Position Summary

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join our rapidly growing organization. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Strategic Operations & Engagement, Global Purpose & Patient Experience, this critical position will be responsible for building and strengthening relationships with patients and people with lived experience across BMS’s current and future therapeutic areas. This role is responsible for the execution of integrated processes and procedures that support patient events and engagements, ensuring that all patients that interact with BMS have a positive experience. Development of strong relationships and connections with contracted patients is an important priority for the person in this role. The role will support the continued expansion of employee engagement initiatives/signature programs which focus on the telling of inspirational patient stories for both internal and external consumptions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patients, be an expert communicator and have a keen attention to detail and the nuances that drive great experiences and will play a key role in support of commercial priorities. To be successful, the individual must possess strong project management and organizational capabilities, as well as be able to execute tactically delivering on team goals and objectives.

  • Highly external-facing role with daily interactions with patients and their family caregivers (email, phone, live)
  • Critical business partner helping to tactically shape patient &/or caregiver engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage patient relationships as liaison between members of the BMS patient family, providing patient-centered and empathetic business connection at all points of the BMS Patient Ambassador lifecycle.
  • Conduct compliant periodic health updates with patient ambassadors & enter into PatientLink system.
  • Partner with Patient Engagement Manager & Patient Voice Lead on patient engagements to ensure success of the patient activities through efficient/effective coordination with Patient Ambassadors
  • Assist with the interest & assessment process for potential projects and events via direct communications with the patient &/or caregiver (explains scope of project, logistics, timing in addition to contracting process).
  • Ensure all patient &/or caregiver contracting and service provider agreements are properly executed, accurate, complete and compliant utilizing appropriate BMS systems: Veeva, SAP, Ariba and Demand Management.
  • Execute proper patient &/or caregiver compensation and helping them with expense review and submission, resolve payment issues (changed bank, wrong address, obtain approvals, etc.)
  • Coordinate a significant portion of event logistics to ensure the patient &/or caregiver is comfortable in all travel and lodging arrangements while engaged with BMS.
  • Master contracted patient &/or caregiver profiles and updated status (e.g., health, disease state and contracting, etc.)
  • Ensure that the PatientLink (in-house database) is up to date and that each profile is clear, accurate, and easy to understand.
  • Drive technological improvements to the patient engagement lifecycle
  • Partner with the Corporate Affairs Communications team to provide relevant information on patients &/or caregivers, including but not limited to contact information, assets, etc. for both internal and external patient focused content. Additionally, assess requests from across the business for patient &/or caregiver assets.
  • Stretch across special Global Patient Outreach projects as directed by Senior Director, Strategic Operations & Engagement as bandwidth allows.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or the equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years of coordination experience, biotech/pharmaceutical industry preferred.

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility.
