
Sr. Systems Administrator

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is looking to add a Sr. Systems Administrator to its growing Information Technology team. Reporting to the Manager, IT Systems, this position will be responsible for assisting in endpoint management and Windows server related systems across all Cooper’s Hawk locations, including the Restaurant Support Center and restaurants. The Sr. Systems Engineer will work with other members of the IT organization and business to ensure that IT systems meet current and future needs and, when necessary, identify gaps where new technology is needed. This position will be based at our Restaurant Support Center in Downers Grove, IL.What You’ll Do:
- Administer, support and maintain enterprise-level Windows hybrid server environment.
- Oversee and manage virtualized environments.
- Responsible for creating processes and procedures for ensuring the successful operating system patching of all related servers and computers.
- Design, deploy, and manage Azure infrastructure services, including Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Storage, and Azure Active Directory.
- Implement and manage Azure security best practices, including network security groups, role-based access control (RBAC), and Azure Security Center.
- Automate Azure deployments and management tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM templates.
- Responsible for the design, development, implementation, testing and management of various IT solutions in area of responsibility.
- Manage assigned projects and tasks, ensuring timely completion.
- Recommend, plan and manage the implementation of hardware, software and systems as they relate to assigned components, ensuring security and compliance with industry best practices.
- Technical owner for Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policies.
- Develop, implement and maintain proactive monitoring tools and procedures for areas of responsibility and business critical systems.
- Manage all contracts and licensing within areas of responsibility.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement within the IT organization.
- Work with the business to maximize capabilities of existing systems.
- Research new technologies, evaluate and recommend new software or systems and manage all associated implementations or changes.
- Assist with the integration needs between vendors and other IT teams.
- Partner with team members to understand requirements for administration, configuration, and support for maintenance or enhancement of existing systems.
- Evaluate alternative applications and solutions to meet business capabilities and requirements.
- Identify gaps in existing technology and determine the best way to fill the gap using existing or new technologies.
- Ensure systems are implemented and configured to meet business and technical requirements as well as best practices.
- Provide escalated support of enterprise Infrastructure systems from other internal teams or vendors when appropriate.
- Manage vendor relationships, including support tickets, evaluating new releases, and upcoming roadmap capabilities.
- Work with vendor resources to create statement of works to support requirements as needed.
- Maintain documentation of assigned technology systems, processes and components.
- Produce cost and resource estimates based on requirements and statements of work.
- Ensure that solutions meet all compliance, legal, internal controls, and accounting standards.
- Provide after-hours support as needed for critical systems.
- Mentor and assist Junior System Administrators and other IT staff.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
- 5+ years’ experience in Infrastructure & Operations
- 3+ years’ experience managing and maintaining corporate Windows workstations and servers, storage and VMWare server environment
- 3+ years’ experience managing and maintaining corporate Active Directory and Group Policy environments
- 3+ years’ experience managing projects on the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Infrastructure related systems
- 3+ years’ experience managing endpoints – patching, OS and application deployments, anti-virus, malware, web filtering
- 3+ years’ experience with supporting IT systems in a multisite, corporate environment
- Experience in networking
- BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent
- Desire to identify and apply new technology as the technology roadmap evolves
- Ability to manage and coordinate major complex projects/services
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and organize work to meet deadlines and multiple requests
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and handle ambiguity
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with differing knowledge levels and technical ability
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work effectively with cross functional groups and participate in problem solving process
- Ability to plan and implement projects on time and within budget
- Ability to reconcile competing demands between conflicting interests and priorities
- Excellent decision-making skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in hospitality, especially restaurants, is considered a plus
- Certifications in Microsoft, server and security areas are considered pluses
