Overview

Technical support for a university laboratory focused on plasma propulsion research, including support of the experimental facility and associated equipment and diagnostics. Ability to diagnose and repair circuits, design simple hardware, and undertake light machining tasks in the lab's machine shop. Familiarity with plasma diagnostics, pulsed power, and operation and maintenance of vacuum equipment is an advantage but not a strict requirement. Working knowledge of data acquisition systems (e.g., LabVIEW) and computer programming is a plus. Tasks include supporting experiments, maintaining the lab's equipment and instruments, ordering materials and equipment, and overseeing lab safety.



Responsibilities

Supporting experiments
1. Taking Measurements
2. Compiling data and reducing it
3. Writing reports on data findings

Support Research Group, including students.
1. 13 research students in a group
2. Thesis support

Other Duties

1. Ordering material and equipment.
2. Maintaining lab equipment and instruments
3. Overseeing lab safety


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in technical studies (mechanical or electrical) or equivalentexperience (minimum of 5 years) in a research lab is the minimum requirement.
  • A BS in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus.
  • Familiarity with plasma diagnostics, pulsed power, and operation and maintenance of vacuum equipment
