Gray Construction is looking to add a Staff Accountant to it's team in our Lexington, KY office.

Who we want…

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business and two (2+) years of experience in financial accounting including state and local sales taxes. Experience with international taxes and a working knowledge of the construction industry is a plus. This person must be physically present for work in the Lexington office, with the potential for a hybrid remote work schedule.

Must possess proficient computer skills, including the ability to utilize a cloud-based integrated accounting system, complex Excel spreadsheets, word processing, PDF’s, and e-mail applications. CMIC experience or other construction cloud-based software knowledge, Textura and multi-state tax knowledge a plus. Other requirements include excellent analytical skills, communication, and organizational skills with attention to detail, the ability to solve problems, navigate multi-state online websites, and to coordinate efforts with internal Gray personnel.

Qualifications

What we expect…

  • Research project locations to determine appropriate sales and use tax application and reporting. Review project purchase orders for correct tax application. Collaborate with project teams to ensure proper compliance with all state and local tax regulations.
  • Research state tax exemptions and coordinate required documentation to support customer economic incentives.
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns and reconcile related tax accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with local business taxes, registrations, and licensing requirements.
  • Assist with corporate income tax compliance by gathering documentation, preparing supporting schedules, and coordinating with external service providers for federal and state income tax filings.
  • Manage property tax compliance, including preparing and reviewing business personal property tax returns, coordinating filings across jurisdictions, and monitoring assessments for accuracy and appeal opportunities.
  • Respond to tax notices and support tax audits and examinations with appropriate authorities.
  • Prepare documentation and support international tax reporting requirements.
  • Provide backup support for fixed asset recordkeeping, including depreciation calculations.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for functions performed.
  • Oversee and review accounts payable activities for accuracy and compliance
  • Other duties as assigned.
