Physical Requirements

Must be able to pick up children weighing up to 40 pounds, push strollers, walk up and down from the floor several times a day, and be outside for up to 45-minute increments of time.



Shift

Work Shift
30 hrs per week (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm; specific hours are negotiable





Job Summary

The UK Early Childhood Laboratory is seeking a compassionate and dependable STEPS Teaching Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will support Lead Classroom Teachers in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of all young children.

Duties of this individual include the following –
  • Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment
  • Supervise children to ensure safety and well-being at all times
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Help with daily routines including meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, and transitions.
  • Participate in training sessions, professional development opportunities, and communication with center administrators regarding operations.
  • Uphold the center’s policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety standards.


The preferred applicant will have, or be willing to obtain, a negative TB test (within the last 2 years). CPR and 1st aid certification is required within 3 months of employment. All employees must have a fingerprint background check and can be completed after the job is offered.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The preferred application will have experience working with young children, preferably in school-based or licensed child care settings.
