Preferred Education/Experience
- Experience with caregiving or the pursuit of a degree in the health industry is a plus, but not required.
- Good driving record.
Hours per Week
Hours: 18 – 30 hours per week
Mon – Fri ==> 9 am – 1pm needed most
If not available for every weekday morning, there is the possibility to switch with someone working the evening shift, which is 9 pm -12 am or 1am, or a weekend shift (same morning and evening hours). Students’ schedules differ. I can be flexible and work with the hours.
Job Summary
You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.
Female paraplegic in a power wheelchair. She is independent during the day but needs assistance with personal hygiene (daily dressing, sometimes bathing and bathroom assistance) and other general needs at the beginning and end of the day. Ceiling-mounted lift used for transfers to/from bed and shower. Exercises – exercise bands for arms and passive exercises with legs. Potential wound care. Keep employer apprised of low inventory items for medical supplies and other everyday items. Small tasks around the house such as reaching things that are out of reach, carrying in groceries from the van, laundry, etc. Be willing to drive my van to take me places when needed, mainly to doctor appointments.

- Caring individual who accepts responsibility and shows initiative.
- Detail oriented.
- Maintain chart of body functions.
- Must be a non- smoker.
- Fingernails should be minimal length with rounded corners.
