Job Summary

The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Assistant supports the daily operations of the federally funded TRIO SSS program. This position assists with programmatic activities, student intake and eligibility documentation, appointment scheduling, and general office support. The SSS Assistant plays a key role in providing welcoming, professional, and confidential assistance to program participants.
TRIO SSS is designed to increase the retention, persistence, and graduation rates of eligible students, including first-generation college students, income-eligible students, and students with disabilities.

Job Duties:

• Assist with student intake and eligibility verification processes in compliance with federal TRIO regulations.
• Schedule appointments for academic advising, tutoring, mentoring, financial literacy counseling, and other SSS services.
• Maintain confidential participant files (electronic and physical) in accordance with FERPA and federal guidelines.
• Support data entry and tracking of student participation in required reporting systems.
• Assist with coordination, setup, and promotion of SSS workshops, cultural enrichment activities, and program events.
• Provide front-desk support, including answering phones, greeting students, and responding to inquiries.
• Help monitor and track student engagement and attendance at SSS activities.
• Assist professional staff with preparation of materials, mailings, and reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent software.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks.
• Commitment to support diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior office, administrative, or customer service experience.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus
