Job Summary
The Student Grounds Worker (Sanitation) supports the Facilities or Grounds Department by maintaining clean and orderly outdoor campus environments. This entry-level position focuses exclusively on sanitation duties, including trash collection, litter removal, and servicing outdoor waste and recycling receptacles.
Under supervision, the Student Grounds Worker ensures that campus grounds, walkways, parking areas, and common outdoor spaces remain free of debris and waste. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position provides students with valuable work experience while contributing directly to campus cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Empty and replace liners in outdoor trash and recycling receptacles
- Collect loose litter from grounds, sidewalks, parking lots, and common areas
- Transport waste to designated disposal areas
- Monitor receptacles for damage or overflow and report issues
- Maintain cleanliness around dumpsters and waste collection sites
- Follow established safety procedures and proper waste handling guidelines
- Perform other sanitation-related duties as assigned
