Job Summary

You must be a current UK student to apply to this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.


  • Opening/processing mail
  • Saving documents to file management system (scanning & hard copies)
  • Processing documents/information from clients/matters
  • Preparing correspondence
  • Basic research for files (PVA records, KY SOS records, etc.)
  • Summarize information for attorney projects
  • Numerous appropriate research projects based on runner’s abilities
  • Daily runs to court, other attorney offices, pick up documents
  • Make copies
  • Prepare binders for hearings
  • Save and update electronic and paper court pleadings
  • Create/prepare new folders/files for attorneys
  • Update client files
  • Daily attention to office environment (making sure coffee is made, conference room are ready/cleaned, drink trays prepped for client meetings, etc.)
  • Start date flexible, but needed throughout the fall semester.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • Professional demeanor appearance (first contact with clients, counsel, courts, etc. “face of the firm”);
  • Eagerness and ability to learn and develop professionally;
  • Proven organization and time management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication;
  • Keen eye for detail coupled with exceptional proofreading skills;
  • Working knowledge of computers and programs (Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team;
  • Ability and desire to work in fast paced environment with minimal supervision; and
  • Basic understanding of the court systems and legal processes.
