Job Summary

You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.
The Lexington School helps students learn in an atmosphere of playful discovery and multi-sensory experience while engaging in TLS Mission Skills. The Preschool assistant will work in all classes and alongside the lead teacher to implement various daily activities, including observing, supervising, and educating children, organizational duties, and optimizing the learning and play environment while meeting the childcare health and safety standards.

Essential Responsibilities for the Classroom:
•Assist teachers in the classroom and on the playground with activities that are age-appropriate
•Assist the teacher in implementing activities on the lesson plan and following the daily schedule
•Assist and engage in play or assist with nap time throughout the day
•Follow and implement health, safety, and sanitation procedures throughout the day
•Maintain regulatory compliance in preschool settings



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Essential Responsibilities to maintain employment:
•Complete 15 hours of professional development annually
•Update TB skin test every two years
•Complete a professional development plan with the director annually
•Complete a staff evaluation with the director annually
•Complete CPR/First Aid Training every two years (if required by the director)
•Complete the 1.5 hour Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Training in the first year of hire
•Complete 6 hours of Orientation in the first 90 days of hire
•Follow and implement school policies and procedures daily
