Preferred Education/Experience

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Nurse Practitioner, or Pre-Med track, or have recently graduated from one of these programs; candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered. A strong interest in pursuing a career in medicine, pediatrics, or a related healthcare field is essential, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when working with children and families.

Hours per Week

8-16 (more during breaks)
4 to 8 hour shifts (4 hour minimum)

Job Summary

You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.

Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures while recording and updating patient histories, vital signs, height, weight, and developmental milestones. Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas, as well as perform basic laboratory tests and collect specimens as directed. Administer immunizations and medications when permitted and properly trained, and communicate effectively with patients, parents, and healthcare team members. Additionally, schedule appointments, manage patient flow, assist with electronic health record (EHR) documentation, and support general office and clinical operations as needed.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate is reliable, responsible, and eager to learn in a fast-paced clinical environment. While prior clinical or volunteer experience is preferred, it is not required. Basic computer and data entry skills are necessary, with experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems considered a plus, as is prior experience working with children.
