Job Summary
The Student Success Coach facilitates student recruitment, enrollment, and retention by connecting current and potential students to available resources. They also assist prospective Computer Science students and inform them about Northeast State, its academic programs, admission requirements, costs, and all facets of attending Northeast State. The position reports to the Project Director for the Technologies Division.
Job Duties
• Provide proactive and individualized coaching for assigned student population
• Facilitate student recruitment, enrollment, and retention by connecting current and potential students to available student resources including peer mentors.
• Assess student needs and facilitate access to resources for academic, financial, and/or personal support.
• Coordinate with peer mentoring program to integrate coaching and mentoring services for CIT students.
• Assist prospective students by providing information about Northeast State, Computer Science programs, admission requirements, costs, and all facets of attending Northeast State. This includes high school visits and college fairs, answering letters of inquiry from prospective students, and maintaining constant personal communication with NeSCC area students, parents, and high school counselors, and Business and Industry leaders.
• Coordinate with CIT faculty to support student participation in applied learning activities using the Cyber Range.
• Support and implement applicable aspects of Northeast State’s strategic enrollment plan, which includes, but is not limited to, the enrollment of traditionally underserved or at-risk populations.
• Maintain continuous communication with prospective and current students utilizing targeted communication plan.
• Process recruiting and prospect paperwork; enter information to computerized database; process correspondence.
• Develop and implement presentations to promote the benefits of the Technologies Division and Computer Science department to various constituencies, utilizing traditional formats and new technologies.
• Serve as a student success coach for the Computer Science department providing assistance on a wide variety of student success initiatives within the Computer Science department.
• Provide campus tours.
• Operate within the parameters of federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures, most notably admissions, financial aid, and records policies and procedures.
• Assist with open house; assist in the preparation of packets; greet and register participants.
• Develop and implement Technologies recruitment events.
• Strengthen partnerships both inside and outside the Technologies Division to serve students, including with high school counselors and community partnerships.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with Regional Center for Advance Manufacturing (RCAM) and business and industry leaders to promote recruitment for ongoing programs.
• Assist with retention efforts of the Technologies Division.
• Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of 1 year of experience in academic/student services, public relations, or sales
Minimum of 1 year of experience in public speaking in a professional setting of small-to-large crowds
Demonstrated experience handling/managing multiple projects
Valid driver’s license and/or other ability to travel locally and regionally to off-campus sites
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution with 18 hours in a Computer Science field
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Computer Science-related environment
One year or more of higher education recruiting experience
One or more years of experience working with high school and/or young adult learners in a classroom or recruiting setting
One year experience teaching Database, NetPlus, Intro to Networking, A+, or Linux
One or more years of applicable experience in a business or industry setting
Experience in a student success related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems

Excellent organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Strong work ethic
Outstanding collaborative and motivational skills
Driven and self-motivated with the ability to work responsibly with little supervision
