Preferred Education/Experience
Experience in a formal teaching or tutoring role or working towards a degree which involves teacher training is ideal, but a strong student going into another field will also be considered – in that case please describe your academic interest(s) or qualification(s) clearly (what makes you qualified to tutor a rising fourth grader, etc.). Ideal: interest in helping us map out a summer curriculum for each child and follow through with feedback on how they are doing each week. Since we live on a farm, interest in animals and outdoor activities would be helpful; we are a screen-free family. One of our children is a Type 1 diabetic, so interest in or background experience caring for someone with medical needs, or exposure to diabetes management, would be helpful. Applicants must be able to stay in close contact with us via phone for diabetes management, but we will not expect a nanny to make any diabetes-related decisions on their own.

Job Summary
You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.
We are a UK faculty family seeking a nanny/tutor to provide childcare for our 9- and 5- year old children throughout the summer. We will be looking for about 15 hours a week of assistance, ideally 5 days a week for 3 hours at a time (e.g., daily from 12-3 or 2-5). The role can possibly be split between two candidates if everyday availability is not possible, but all applicants should be able to commit to at least 2 regular days a week for a 3 hour period. If you do not have the ability to plan out your summer schedule ahead of time around other commitments, please do not apply. We are looking for someone who will split their daily time with the kids between 2 tasks: keeping them active and outdoors (we live on a farm with plenty of room for adventure), and doing summer tutoring to help them prepare for kindergarten and fourth grade.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
1) We are considering current UK student applicants only; please do not apply if you are not at UK student. If you are a UK student, please be sure to apply with your UK email account so that we do not screen your application out by accident. 2) CPR certified or willing to earn certification before beginning the role. 3) Dependable transportation and ability to get to our home in a rural area of SE Lexington – please map from your home to the Lexington Sporting Club soccer stadium before applying to ensure the approximate commute is reasonable for you. 4) Applicants should be able to document some expertise or suitability for tutoring. 5) Include at least one reference.
