Job Summary
The Student Success & Engagement department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a Student Success & Engagement Lead. This position will be housed at the Downtown campus but is expected to assist in planning and implementing at least one event on the other five campuses. This position will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the Student Success & Engagement team as well as planning and implementing student activities and events in collaboration with Student Success & Engagement, Access & Community Engagement, and the larger college community.
Job Duties:
• Connect with the Success Coaches and the Student Engagement Coordinator to understand the needs of the students based on outreach and student participation.
• Collaborate with entire team to create events that encourage retention of students.
• Utilize data from the Success Coaches’ outreach to plan and support events for the college.
• Provide a second level of supervision and approvals for the entire team in the absence of the Director.
• Support management of the Student Success & Engagement and the Student Engagement webpages.
• Oversee and review budgets with the Director, completes yearly reviews and budget planning for upcoming year.
• Function as supervisor for the Student Engagement Coordinator, including approving time requests and conducting annual evaluations.
• Support Commencement activities for the college in collaboration with Marketing, Records Office, and other stakeholders.
• Serve as advisor to a student organization and oversee membership recruitment, event planning, organization banking, and help to develop student leaders.
• Collaborate with other departments to support major college events such as Student Resource Fairs, summer new student engagement activities, Transfer events, etc.
• Assist with marketing, promoting, and student recruitment for various student involvement opportunities and programs.
• Initiate planning for large-scale campus events, such as Welcome Week and Kick Off to Finals. Participate in annual calendar planning with other Student Affairs departments.
• Ensure programming provides opportunities for growth in leadership skills, personal development, and service to the College and the community.
• Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and five years related professional work experience or equivalent required. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field such as Education, Psychology, or Communication
• Experience planning activities, engaging students virtually, and managing budgets.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills, and ability to balance competing priorities.
• Ability to coach students
• Innovative, creative, resourceful, enjoys a fast-paced environment, initiative-taker, ability to motivate and maintain interest of various groups of students, faculty, and staff, boundary spanner- able to talk to anyone at any time in any setting. Ability to work collaboratively.
• Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills. Experience using technology and willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate student needs.
