Job Summary

The First-Year Engineering Program is seeking part-time (10 hour/week) undergraduate teaching assistants (UTA) to assist with grading, and to serve as in-class assistants. Assignments will include service in EGR 101 Engineering Exploration I, EGR 102 Fundamentals of Engineering Computing, EGR 103 Engineering Exploration II and EGR 215 Introduction to the Practice of Engineering for Transfer Students.

For grading duties, each UTA will practice grading according to a rubric and grade submitted assignments on a flexible schedule with weekly deadlines.

For in-class activities, each UTA will participate in several scheduled class sections, staff open laboratory sessions and attend periodic planning meetings. During class, the UTAs will circulate among teams of students to answer questions, facilitate in-class activities, guide progress toward learning objectives and provide constructive feedback.

UTAs are expected be enthusiastic representatives of the College of Engineering, share experiences related to their majors and encourage student success strategies.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Applicants for the position must have a minimum 3.00 overall GPA at the conclusion of the Spring 2026 semester, and grades of “B” or better in all FYE courses completed
