The Supervising Project Engineer position reports to the Team Leader (TL) and is responsible for investigation and remediation projects under our expanding Environmental practice in Daly City, California.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Serve as a key member of the Environmental practice with the ability to step in and immediately manage complex environmental projects
  • Apply extensive expertise, creativity, and innovation to solve complex problems as an advocate for EKI’s clients; independently determine project strategic objectives
  • Apply independence and critical thought in leading the preparation of high-quality technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables and review and analysis of data
  • Assemble and manage multi-disciplinary project teams leveraging professional maturity and stability; effectively provide technical and non-technical mentorship to staff on all topics relevant to the profession
  • Recognize and attend to potential technical liability and provide mentorship and education to staff on the topic
  • Communicate technical content to various audiences leveraging high-quality and concise verbal and written skills
  • Execute projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary, and scheduling requirements, serving as a role model for teammates
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients and lead business development strategies; act as a high-level business development ambassador for EKI
  • Generate significantnew and repeat business; expectation to generate at least $500,000 of revenue per year
  • Act as a leader directing EKI participation in professional associations and conferences; identify key market trends and opportunities
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering; Master’s degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum of twelve(12) years of experience
  • Must have Professional Engineer license in the State of California or be able to obtain license following employment
  • Must be able to review and edit technical reports to meet scope and quality objectives, as well as client expectations
  • Must have skills in quality control, planning, cost estimating, and scheduling
  • Must be able to assign and manage work
  • Must have effective mentoring skills
  • OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred but not required

  • Must have effective communication skills both oral and written, including ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, technicians, designers, engineers, owners, and other project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products
  • Must have a strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Must be able to develop strong relationships with clients and potential clients to position EKI to win work from these contacts
  • Must have ability to multi-task, stay organized, work independently, and collaborate with various project teams
  • Must have a strong desire to grow personally as well as professionally
  • Must have a great attitude and eager to learn
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with high-volume workload and frequent short deadlines
  • Must have the ability to obtain medical clearance to work on hazardous waste site(s)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to work 10-hour days
  • Must be able to work remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information
  • Must be able to assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight for customer meetings and site visits up to 20% of the time
