The Supplier Development Engineer will represent the organization and interface with the supplier on a regular basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. - Identifies, assesses, and develops new suppliers for the organization.
- Reviews Supplier Self Assessments from potential suppliers and collaborates with Purchasing.
- Participates in the supplier sourcing process giving input on supplier production, quality, and technology capabilities.
- Drives the Supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
- Works closely with the Program Management and Purchasing teams.
- Serves as a liaison between the Supplier and the American Rheinmetall manufacturing facilities on new program launches.
- Conducts Supplier Risk Assessments and updates contingency plans.
- Works with suppliers on complex problems and identifies solutions at supplier facilities.
- Conducts quality system audits at potential and existing supplier facilities.
- Conducts capacity analyses at supplier facilities.
- Reports out on activities to leadership on a regular basis.
- Travel to supplier locations is required (50%).
