Howmet Dover Alloy is a world-class supplier of vacuum and air-melted nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys to aerospace, gas turbine, medical and other high-technology industrial markets.

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Supply Chain Manager join our Casting Facility located in Dover, New Jersey.

Anticipated Pay Range: $95K-$125K per year. *Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.

Position Summary:
The Supply Chain Manager leads a cross-functional planning team, aligning supply chain strategy with operational execution to meet business objectives. This role integrates the forecasting, scheduling, inventory management, and customer interface across internal and external stakeholders. The Supply Chain Manager acts as the central orchestrator between production, planning, and customer expectations, with a strong emphasis on performance outcomes, communication, and leadership development.

Core Job Roles

  • Business Acumen & Strategic Alignment:
    Integrates deep understanding of production needs, lean principles, and customer demand. Champions inventory accuracy and optimization and aligns supply chain decisions with financial goals and customer satisfaction. Connects operational plans with broader revenue and cost strategies.
  • Leadership & People Development:
    Builds and mentors a high-performing team of planners and supply chain professionals. Implements “talent factory” strategies by coaching junior staff, promoting cross-training, evaluating team fit, and developing future leaders. Supports professional growth through exposure to cross-functional responsibilities.
  • Integrated Planning & Forecasting:
    Oversees all elements of production planning and supply chain scheduling. Leads the creation and execution of master production schedules, ensuring alignment with customer forecasts, historical trends, capacity constraints, and plant capabilities. Manages long-range planning while remaining agile to short-term disruptions.
  • Cross-Functional Communication & Influence:
    Acts as the liaison between customers, manufacturing, customer service, procurement, and quality. Ensures all stakeholders have accurate, timely information. Builds consensus without authority, manages expectations, and communicates delays or changes with transparency and credibility.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making:
    Uses data rigorously to adjust forecasts, material requirements, and capacity plans. Reviews key indicators such as OTD, schedule attainment and throughput. Leads SI&OP processes and monthly forecasting reviews across the business.
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Discipline:
    Builds structure and repeatable systems that create predictability in planning and supply chain processes. Leverages insights from across the value stream to reduce waste, improve forecast accuracy, and close feedback loops with operational and commercial teams.
  • Change Management & Flexibility:
    Anticipates disruptions, adjusts material and production schedules accordingly, and guides the team through dynamic manufacturing environments. Leads agile responses to unplanned demand shifts, engineering changes, and resource constraints with minimal disruption to the business.
  • Operational Ownership & Escalation Management:
    Holds accountability for execution commits to deliverables and ensures the team follows through. Investigates and resolves schedule delays, bottlenecks, and material shortages through structured problem-solving and escalations.
  • Purpose-Driven Leadership:
    Brings clarity to “why” behind decisions and drives engagement by connecting day-to-day work with company goals. Inspires urgency and accountability through forecast integrity and purpose-aligned direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain ethical standards and act as a model of integrity in all supply chain practices.
  • Lead and develop production planning and supply chain professionals, advancing individual capabilities and succession plans
  • Own the master scheduling process—ensuring customer orders, plant capacity, material availability, and labor constraints are synchronized
  • Collaborate with customer service to ensure order accuracy, delivery date communication, and resolution of any customer issues.
  • Develop and execute processes for proactive backlog management, including schedule reconciliation and forecasting updates.
  • Administer supplier controls and partner with procurement on delivery performance and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Act as primary interface with operations and engineering on NPI readiness, material planning, and customer schedule alignment.
  • Deliver performance metrics including OTD, forecast accuracy, inventory turns, and cost reductions in waste and excess.
  • Communicate daily, weekly, and monthly planning outcomes and escalate systemic risks to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop, document, and standardize planning tools, templates, and escalation routines.
  • Review and finalize business center forecasts monthly, including inputs from customer demand signals and internal capabilities.
  • Support daily shipment reconciliation and drive root cause analysis when delivery commitments are missed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, logistics, procurement, and inventory management.
  • Experience with ERP systems and supply chain software.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • This role typically operates in an office environment but may require visits to manufacturing sites and supplier locations.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
