Job Description
As a Certified Endoscopy Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the SurgiCenters. Your primary responsibility is to manage scopes and scope disinfectant equipment, ensuring a clean and safe environment for endoscopic procedures. This role involves cleaning, maintaining, and participating in the reprocessing and disinfection of endoscopes, as well as reporting any broken equipment or expired supplies. You will also assist the GI endoscopy team with patient care and support the overall goals of the organization through quality customer service and teamwork.Responsibilities
- Manage scopes and scope disinfectant equipment at each SurgiCenter.
- Ensure accurate, efficient, and productive performance of supply-related duties.
- Clean, maintain, and participate in endoscope reprocessing and high-level disinfection.
- Complete an annual Endoscope Reprocessing and High Level Disinfection Competency assessment.
- Demonstrate equipment and flexible endoscope competency.
- Report broken equipment and expired supplies to the Team Lead.
- Assist the GI endoscopy team with patient care and related duties.
- Support physicians and registered nurses during endoscopic procedures.
- Ensure availability of supplies and perform decontamination tasks.
- Provide quality customer service and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- BLSHCP certification is mandatory, to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Certified registered central sterile technician certification (CRCST or CBSPDT) is required.
- Endoscope Reprocessing Certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Minimum 6 months of endoscope reprocessing experience, or 3 months of sterile processing experience with a certification.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred, with training provided for incumbents.
- Ability to demonstrate the competencies listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
- Potential exposure to hospital hazards, including infectious diseases and hazardous waste.
- Physical demands include stooping, crouching, pushing equipment, and standing/walking.
- Lifting capabilities of 25-30 lbs frequently, and 50-10 lbs with assistance occasionally.
