Required License/Registration/CertificationNonePhysical RequirementsSitting and/or standing at workstation for extended periods; lifting and/or carrying light-weight objects.Shift8:30 am-4:30 pm; Monday-Friday; and occasional evenings and weekends.Job SummaryThe VIP Center Survivor Advocate will provide free and confidential advocacy and support to students, staff, faculty, and the University of Kentucky who have experienced or been impacted by interpersonal violence. Advocacy services encompass a wide range of support, including, but not limited to, informing survivors of their rights, accompaniment with reporting options, safety planning, and connection to well-being referrals on campus and in the community. Survivor Advocates engage in campus education, training, and outreach, sharing valuable information about Interpersonal Violence, VIP Center services, and best practices for supporting survivors. Additionally, Survivor Advocates build collaborative partnerships, strengthen prevention initiatives, and continually work to enhance the University’s response to interpersonal violence.Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesStrong interpersonal skills; knowledge of interpersonal violence and advocacyDoes this position have supervisory responsibilities?
