As our SustainabilityIntern, you'll spend the 2025-2026 NBA Season at the forefront of our mission to go green! 

About the Internship:

  • Internship Duration: August 26,2025 to April 24, 2026, with the potential for an extension.
  • Part-time Commitment: Expect to work an average of 28 hours per week.
  • Location: Portland, Oregon; this is an on-site role, not remote.
  • Industry: Dive into the dynamic world of Sports & Entertainment, gaining exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into what it truly means to be part of the team behind the team.

As our Sustainability Intern, you will:

  • Support project tracking and implementation of 2030 organizational sustainability goals and objectives.
  • Develop and execute sustainability training (including recycling training and building energy management) for staff.
  • Manage and curate content for employee education on our sustainability Slack channel and SharePoint employee resource page.
  • Track and monitor energy, water, waste, and transportation data for the Rose Quarter Campus for budgeting/forecasting and ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
  • Support waste management operations including sorting operations for compost sorting, our reusable serviceware program (Rip City Reuse), and procurement of environmentally preferrable products.
  • Track opportunities, complete milestones, and update performance tracker for Energy Trust of Oregon Strategic Energy Management Program.
  • Support documentation of the buildings’ WELL Health-Safety and LEED certifications.
  • Support and lead sustainability campaigns for in-game fan engagement and planning efforts for our annual Green Game.

  • Can communicate complex sustainability topics in a simplified manner to the public
  • Are available to work a flexible schedule, which could include office hours, Trail Blazers home games, and evening/weekend responsibilities.
