Utility Locator (Experienced) – Full Time

Job Summary
Join our team of experienced locators! United Locating Services is seeking a motivated and skilled Utility Locator to accurately locate and mark underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation and construction activities. This is a field-based, road/route position that plays a critical role in protecting utility infrastructure and ensuring public safety.
We are looking for individuals with at least 1 year of experience in utility locating and/or damage prevention.
What You’ll Do (Essential Duties)
Underground Utility Detection: Use company-provided locating equipment to locate and mark underground utilities (gas, electric, communications, etc.).
Mapping & Documentation: Accurately document located utilities and job details using required systems and tools.
Communication & Coordination: Partner with construction crews, project managers, and other stakeholders to confirm scope, markings, and potential hazards.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
Problem Solving: Identify and respond to field challenges quickly, prioritizing safe and accurate outcomes.
Mobile/Route Work: Travel between assigned job sites throughout the day and work outdoors in varying conditions.
Schedule & Status
Full-Time
Schedule varies based on operational needs, typically 8–10 hours per day
Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)
High School Diploma or GED
Valid, unexpired Driver’s License
1+ year of utility locating and/or damage prevention experience
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adapt to different job sites
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Physically able to walk, stand, bend, and lift as needed in outdoor field environments
Additional Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Familiarity with utility locating equipment and related technology
Experience documenting work in mobile apps/systems used for locating
Pay Range
$22.00/hour – $25.00/hour, based on locating experience.
