Job DescriptionPURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Technician II, Multimedia Production is a key storyteller, creating and distributing engaging video and photography across campus. This role focuses on executing visual campaigns that support college-wide initiatives and marketing efforts, especially seasonal ones. It's a hands-on position covering the entire production process, from concept to delivery, while also supporting our podcast and content creators, and managing media assets for various digital platforms.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Full-Scale Media Production: Leads video and photography projects from start to finish, including but not limited to:
- Meeting with campus partners to understand their vision
- Planning out detailed production schedules
- Executing curated media days to keep fresh photos for use in marketing
- Developing clear scripts, shot lists, and storyboards
- Skilled Cinematography & Photography: Captures high-quality video footage and compelling still photos including but not limited to:
- Applying professional camera techniques, composition, and lighting to create content for college promotions, extensive event coverage, and general campus support
- Regularly photographs and records significant campus events like the annual Open House, Cy-Fest, and Convocation
- Seamlessly integrates motion graphics, precise music synchronization, clear text overlays, and impactful visual effects
- Strategic Digital Media & Distribution:
- Develops and optimizes short-form content (e.g., Reels, mini-vignettes) for use across social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Manages and publishes content on the college's official YouTube channel, ensuring its relevance and adherence to current trends
- Dedicated Media Support & Equipment Care:
- Assists in producing the "Falcon Frequency Podcast"
- Provides valuable support to "Falcon Force" content creators, specifically by assisting the Digital Marketing Coordinator with media training and equipment usage when applicable
- A vital part of this role also includes maintaining, troubleshooting, and keeping inventory of all video, photography, and audio equipment
- Media Management: Manages all media efficiently, from importing and preparing raw footage to organizing files with metadata and archiving, to exporting final content in the right formats for various platforms
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including some nights and weekends
- Skills in video and photography production (writing, producing, shooting, and editing)
- Knowledge of and ability to use and learn computer applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to determine the approach for doing the work
- Ability and skill to follow specific procedures that may result in interaction with co-workers, citizens, or other individuals
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in software like Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom) and Final Cut Pro
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes,PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment; Any specialized equipment typical to assigned functional area
- Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or higher and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, TV Production, or a related field
- Bachelor's degree in Visual Communications
- Experience with Adobe software programs
- Experience in post-production of high-quality marketing videos and photos
- Experience in video production
- Experience in basic audio production and mixing for podcasts
Hiring salary range is $38,761 - $44,575.
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
