Vituity Locations: Vituity has opportunities at 475 sites across the country, serving 9 million patients a year. As part of the Vituity Scribe Program, there are multiple opportunities to fit your needs, including gaining experience in units such as the Emergency Department, Intensivist Care, Telemetry and Medical-Surgical.

The Opportunity

  • Ensures telehealth workflow and technical setup are functioning as designed, supporting providers with smooth and reliable telescribe operations.
  • Prepare patient charts with necessary documentation and history.
  • Transcribe the history, physical exam, laboratory, and radiological results as dictated by the provider. This may include selecting the appropriate template from the computer system. In certain departments they can assist with documenting H&Ps, Progress Notes, and Discharge Summaries.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of diagnostic test results from ancillary departments. Compile results for the provider’s review and action. Record test results on the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Record, in real time, the actions (physical exam and procedures) and words of the provider. Obtain the provider’s signature on every chart. Record the discussions that occur between the provider and medical consultants or patients’ family members.
  • Ensure complete and legible documentation of the patient encounter and notify provider if more information is needed for documentation. This may include reviewing triage and nursing documentation for completeness.
  • Review the primary diagnoses and work with the provider to ensure that all documentation is accurate and is clinically supported in the charting. Work with the provider to ensure that all quality measures are completed.
  • May pend orders under the discretion of the provider if the hospital/site permits this practice.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required or must obtain within three (3) weeks of entering this role, if required at a site level.
  • Pre‐med or nursing related courses preferred.
  • Upper division Anatomy or Physiology strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong writing skills; legibility and spelling proficiency.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functionality.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Able to accurately type at least 50 words per minute.
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Highly organized.

The Practice

Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois – Shiloh, Illinois

  • A joint venture between BJC Healthcare and Encompass Health Corporation, aiming to bring more rehabilitation beds to the metro-east area for patients recovering from medical procedures at nearby hospitals.
  • 40-bed, inpatient rehab hospital is expected to open in February 2022.
  • Will provide 24-hour nursing care and physical, occupational and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries.

The hourly rate for this role is $15.00 per hour.
