Job Summary
The Korotkova Lab is looking for a responsible and motivated applicant who wishes to learn microbiological, biochemical and molecular techniques. The goals of our projects are to study mechanisms of virulence of important bacterial pathogens and to design new therapeutics. Duties include: making media stocks and buffers, maintenance of glassware and plastic ware and assisting with experiments. We would prefer students with previous classes or experience in Chemistry and Biology. You are encouraged to apply if you are a pre-med or are interested in attending graduate school in microbiology/biochemistry. Applicants will have opportunities to participate in research projects once they gain experience. The application should include a CV or resume and academic transcript.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The applicant should be able to calculate the concentrations of chemical solutions and has a basic understanding of pH and buffers. Other training will be provided. Applicant should be looking to join a scientific team for the long-term rather than just a semester. This position would be a perfect opportunity for a student to get a laboratory experience, learn about science and make a valuable contribution to our scientific projects.
