Job Summary
The Transporter is responsible for the safe and timely movement of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital. This role plays a vital part in patient care by ensuring individuals are transported with dignity and care, while maintaining compliance with hospital safety protocols and customer service standards.
Essential Functions
- Transport patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds to designated locations, including surgical suites, imaging areas, and discharge points.
- Assist patients in entering and exiting transport equipment safely, including those with IV pumps, oxygen tanks, and monitoring devices.
- Deliver medical equipment and specimens to various departments as requested.
- Assist staff in the transport of deceased patients to the morgue.
- Provide directions and information to patients, visitors, and staff courteously.
- Maintain transport equipment cleanliness and report any maintenance issues.
- Complete transport documentation accurately and promptly.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to operate transport equipment and follow safety protocols.
- Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and maneuvering patients and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a busy healthcare environment.
- Dependable and professional with a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
- Basic computer or electronic documentation proficiency.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses/Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Experience
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
