Job Description and Requirements

RBFCU in partnership with Members Trust Company is seeking a Trust Officer that is responsible for engaging with Trust Prospects, serving as the day-to-day administrator for an assigned book of business, and managing member and partner relationships. They will be an internal resource for the RBFCU team and key partner to the Trust and Estate Business Development Officer.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an internal point of contact and educational resource for Trust Prospects from the RBFCU website and general phone inquiries.
  • Engage in member discovery with Trust Prospects.
  • Track and maintain Trust Prospects list and account related inquiries.
  • Administer complex fiduciary account relationships, including directed and delegated trusts, traditional irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts and investment management accounts.
  • Serve as the day-to-day administrator for RBFCU trust accounts.
  • Coordinate with members to obtain information for Discretionary Memoranda for trust committee review.
  • Collect and prepare necessary paperwork for member transactions.
  • Prepare account closures for review by the Senior Fiduciary Officer.
  • Monitor bill pay requests submitted by members or beneficiaries.
  • Prepare annual administrative account reviews and resolve exceptions by deadlines.
  • Regularly monitor accounts to minimize overdrafts and excess cash balances.
  • Coordinate with internal partners (MTC Trust Operations, Tax, Business Development, etc.) on member issues and potential opportunities.
  • Ensure all Reg 9 reviews are properly completed by the assigned department.
  • Serve as a liaison for members during account termination and identify opportunities for member retention.
  • Provide financial planning support to members as needed.
  • Identify and participate in support opportunities to engage with centers of influence.
  • Complete special projects and other related duties in keeping with the trust company’s fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Respond to account inquiries from members in a timely manner, providing quality customer service.
  • Communicate effectively with beneficiaries, grantors, attorneys, and investment advisors to ensure all parties are well informed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification from ABA or other trade group in trust administration and operations (e.g., CTFA, CFP) required. Graduate degree (e.g., Masters, JD) preferred
  • Minimum three years of trust administration experience with a financial institution required
  • Experience with applications such as Salesforce, Laserfiche, FIS TrustDesk, and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Financial planning experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of trust, administrative, operational, and risk mitigation standards, including the ability to effectively communicate related policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of trust documents and related fiduciary terms
  • Ability to articulate the benefits and needs of various types of trusts to members
  • Ability to effectively interpret and communicate administrative actions to members
  • Ability to work effectively with members and fiduciary administrators in a team environment
  • Proficiency in technology, including the use of various software programs and operating systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, multitask and re-prioritize, remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods and effectively operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Occasional travel required for meetings, conferences, etc., as requested
