Required Related Experience

Essential Qualifications:
· Enrolled in a related Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or Post-Doctorate degree program at UK
· Data analysis experience
· Strong desire to learn along with professional drive in support of UKI’s mission statement
· Basic understanding of research life cycle (proposal development, budgeting, etc.)
· Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint



Required License/Registration/Certification

None



Physical Requirements

Repetitive motion related to computer use.



Shift

10 hours a week. The specific work schedule will be determined in collaboration between the student employee and supervisor.



Job Summary

Essential Functions:
The UK Innovate Fellow will report to the UK R&D Partnerships Manager, College of Medicine & UKHC as a dedicated resource supporting the corporate partnership team – UK R&D Parnterships.



Duties and Responsibilities:
· 50%Data Analysis & Benchmarking: Analyze and report on industry funding trends nationally and within the University of Kentucky research community. Complete benchmarking with comparable University’s for funding trends, clinical research, research infrastructure, and industry partnership trends.
· 30%Industry Partnerships: Support current and desired industry partnerships by identifying opportunities within current partners of UK and identifying companies for meetings at various scientific and industry related conferences. Complete internal research on prominent research, clinical, and infrastructure strengths for UK R&D Partnerships to develop collaterals for industry partners.
· 10%Administrative: Meet weekly with Manager, UK R&D Partnerships, College of Medicine & UKHC, to discuss priorities and progress; work with Manager, UK R&D Partnerships, College of Medicine & UKHC on project progress.
· 10%Other Duties: Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to customer service, events, and general office assignments



Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working in or with industry (internship, co-op, industry sponsored research or collaboration, etc.)
  • Translational or clinical research experience
