This role will play a critical leadership position within American Express National Bank HQ.

American Express National Bank is American Express’ U.S. banking operation, representing more than 60% of the company’s revenues through consistent payments, financing, and savings products. Led by the Chief Operating Officer, AENB HQ drives the administration of programs and services provided by AENB, in partnership with Bank affiliates and executive officers. In addition, the team plays an enterprise role in driving greater consistency, effectiveness and efficiency across the first line via the AENB COO Office’s Strategic Planning, Control Management, Program Management and Governance functions.

As the Vice President - Compliance, this position will provide strategic compliance oversight to the business while providing advisory support to ensure that the business manages and mitigates the regulatory risk in all jurisdictions in which it operates.

The role leads a diverse and dispersed team of 1LOD Compliance professionals who oversee various aspects of the business and requires strong collaboration with other stakeholder groups including the 2LOD Global Financial Crimes team, 2LOD Market Compliance Officers and the General Counsel’s Organization.

This role is a highly visible and strategic position that maintains regular interactions with senior leaders and external regulatory examiners as appropriate.

The Key responsibilities are as follows:

· Driving implementation of policy and regulatory requirements applicable to the business

· Providing business specific compliance expertise, particularly in relation to identifying where compliance and regulatory risk is present in BU process and controls.

· This position will lead the review of marketing and other customer facing materials.

· Oversight for executing impact assessments for regulatory changes impacting he BU and coordinating and implementing changes for the BU as required

· Responsible for compliance metrics tracking and reporting for the BU. The role will also own, draft and update BU compliance procedures and communications for compliance related BU issues.

· The role will coordinate, execute and provide consultation to the business through the New Product Approval (NPA) process. Supporting drafting NPA risk assessment and managing all related disclosures in addition to performing mapping of new products by the BU to RCSA and controls.

· Assisting with control design activities led by Control Management, advising on compliance risk mitigation elements

· Advising leaders on areas of emerging risk and approaches to improve necessary controls and practices as appropriate.

· Partnering with key compliance and business partners across the Enterprise such as the
General Counsel's Organization, Audit, 2LOD Global Compliance and Ethics, and 2LOD Financial Crimes groups.

Required Qualifications

· Deep regulatory knowledge of the financial regulations applicable to the business

· Prior credit card industry, compliance, legal or risk experience is a plus.

· Strong relationship and leadership skills with proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.

· Ability to exercise good judgment in the development and pursuit of compliant solutions.

· Prior experience of leading and developing high performing teams is a plus.

· Excellent written, verbal, research, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

· Strong project management skills, ability to lead multiple projects and support multiple
priorities simultaneously.

· Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet
deadlines and adapt easily to frequent change.

· Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

Salary Range: $200,000.00 to $275,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits

Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost, and application laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions
