Amex Digital Labs is responsible for catalyzing digital innovation by originating, incubating, and managing emerging products and platforms that can be essential to our customers’ digital lives. We strive to emphasize creativity, customer centricity, and innovation. Focus areas include crafting industry-leading digital payment solutions, leveraging our membership assets to build digital experiences, and defining new products and services based on emerging technologies and trends.
This VP role will focus on go-to-market strategy, governance, and product enablement / operations across various digital payment and membership products and initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as the central business contact for the ongoing maintenance of Digital Labs’ control and compliance environment (including Project Guardian), as well as lead all go-to-market processes and drive speed to market across the full breadth of Labs’ product portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 20 product enablement and governance colleagues
- Drive the go-to-market strategy and processes across the Digital Labs product portfolio, including fintech wallet products/partnerships, Generative AI / Agentic products, peer-to-peer payment solutions, and blockchain-based products and features
- Lead a centralized governance function responsible for maintaining the overall control and compliance environment for Digital Labs and ingest all process changes related to Project Guardian, in partnership with Control Management, GCO and Compliance
- Oversee audit program management across Amex Digital Labs, including coordinating audit-related inquiries and exams and regulatory matters
- Collaborate closely with international markets to determine appropriate management of global launches
- Proactively anticipate risks/issues and ensure appropriate mitigation planning is in place to avoid compromising delivery
- Communicate with key stakeholders with regard to program strategy, issues and/or changes
- Influence cross-functional teams to ensure business alignment, requirements, and resourcing levels are optimal throughout plan
- Actively contribute to product ideation through customer, merchant/partner, and internal feedback to uniquely problem-solve obstacles and produce winning solutions
- Lead process improvements, develop toolkits/resources, and reengineer activities across the team to help increase agility and speed to market
- Supervise ongoing performance of products live in market and provide thought leadership on post-mortems to optimize future launches
Qualifications:
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence partners across a wide variety of functions
- Exceptional agency, can handle ambiguity in a fast-moving organization, and thrives on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
- Ability to drive results against timelines, prioritize, and execute flawlessly
- Exceptional strategic, critical, and creative thinking to problem-solve obstacles and develop winning solutions
- Exceptional program management skills to lead end-to-end partnerships across several key verticals simultaneously – product development, engineering & technology, marketing, operational excellence, servicing, legal, compliance, information security, etc.
- Self-starter that can excel in a dynamic environment by driving decision-making, working well under pressure, and adapting to frequent change
- Excellent relationship-building with partners and across internal stakeholders
- Proven track record in crafting and storytelling
- Possess intellectual curiosity about the evolving digital, mobile, and alternatives payments space and innovative membership experiences
- Expertise in articulating product functionality and demonstrating technical acumen
- Demonstrated people leader who can coach and develop talent
- Bachelor's Degree required, MBA a plus
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
