The Role

In the role of Vice President Fund Accounting, you will lead large, cross-functional teams. You will encourage them to deliver accurate and timely pricing and bookkeeping for Fidelity’s consumer and professional investment offerings. You will champion risk mitigation strategies to protect shareholders and uphold Fidelity’s reputation, while driving operational excellence and regulatory compliance. This role demands strategic vision and decisive leadership to navigate organizational complexities, align competing priorities, and influence outcomes across internal and external partners. You will lead initiatives in new product development, complex securities analysis, FFIO systems optimization, and process innovation. You will empower teams to achieve results at scale and help compose the future of fund operations.

  • Establish the vision for organizational excellence to accomplish the organization’s mission. Ensure a structure to initiate positive change and a drive toward high standards for performance and organizational values
  • Provide co-leadership that promotes intellectual creativity, responsive customer service, and thoughtful organization. Address operational challenges with innovative ways. Analyze the impact and plan appropriate control infrastructure.
  • Accountable for all aspects of quality, efficiency, capacity planning, and meeting operational and risk KPIs
  • Responsible for processes in compliance with regulatory guidance of the funds.
  • Provide technical leadership by staying advised of changes in the regulatory environment and industry trends, while effectively mitigating risk.
  • Manage changes required within practice and systems to remain in compliance with regulations
  • Resolve issues and any customer concerns in a timely manner, seeking the best outcomes for all key partners
  • Balance the requests and needs of customers and partners and prioritize project requests, negotiate deadlines and make recommendations while simultaneously ensuring the timely production and delivery of high volumes of fund data
  • Work frequently with other Fidelity organizations and external clients on new products or initiatives

The Expertise You Have

  • Minimum of 15 years financial service industry experience with 10 years of progressive management experience and 10 years of direct oversight of fund accounting or mutual fund operations
  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance or Economics a plus); MBA or CPA preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial/accounting principles. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulations governing investment companies
  • Proven management and leadership abilities; abilities to effectively lead large, cross functional teams
  • Ability to prioritize contemporaneous projects, apply effective resource management and meet multiple, overlapping deadlines
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication, negotiation skills and talent to influence and work with people across organizations
  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills; capacity to arrive at sound, rational, quick decisions consistent with control framework
  • Ability to make commitments and manage resources and budgets to accomplish those commitments

The Team

The Fund Accounting team operates within the Fund Operations area of Fidelity's Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO) business unit. The Fund Operations group provides back office operational support to Fidelity retail and institutional products, including books and records maintenance, securities pricing, fund and security level performance analysis, financial reporting and tax work. The Fund Accounting operations organization of 175 associates is ultimately responsible for the accurate and timely calculation and distribution of over 8,000 NAVs per day supporting trillions of dollars in shareholder and client assets

Investment Operations

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
