tango is a leader in the home care health management industry and is preparing for significant growth! We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Platform Engineering to lead our global engineering organization. This pivotal role will oversee Software Development, Quality Assurance, DevOps, and Production Support teams. The VP will drive the evolution and scalability of our healthcare technology platforms, integrating homegrown applications and third-party systems in a secure, performant, and compliant manner.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in U.S. healthcare, particularly post-acute care, with a deep understanding of payer and provider ecosystems. They will have a proven track record of building high-performing engineering teams, deploying modern platforms in Microsoft Azure, and operating in loosely coupled, messaging-driven architectures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Leadership
- Lead and scale a globally distributed team across software development, QA, DevOps, and support.
- Promote a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, agility, quality, and operational excellence.
- Align platform architecture with evolving business strategy and long-term technology roadmaps.
Platform Strategy & Execution
- Own the design, development, and delivery of homegrown SaaS and PaaS applications built on Azure using React, C#, REST APIs, Azure Functions, App Services.
- Lead the integration strategy for third-party vendors, partners, and customer platforms using secure, standards-based protocols.
Architecture & Interoperability
- Collaborate with Healthcare Enterprise Architect to guide implementation of messaging-based architectures, event-driven systems, and interoperability protocols (FHIR, HL7, EDI X12 formats like 278, 837i, etc.).
- Champion modern software architecture principles: microservices, domain-driven design, API-first approaches.
Quality & DevOps
- Establish robust QA frameworks and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and automated testing strategies.
- Ensure observability, system health, and rapid incident response through modern DevOps best practices.
Compliance & Security
- Embed HIPAA, HITRUST, and other regulatory compliance into platform governance.
- Drive cloud security posture management and ensure adherence to privacy and risk controls.
QUALIFICATIONS
- U.S. Citizenship required due to access to PHI and regulatory obligations.
- 20+ years of experience in software engineering roles, with at least 10 years in senior/executive leadership.
- Proven experience managing global, cross-functional engineering organizations.
- Deep domain expertise in U.S. healthcare, particularly in post-acute care, Medicare, Medicaid, and interactions with payers and providers.
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud, including App Services, Azure Functions, Managed Identity, Message Bus, B2C tenant, Azure DevOps.
- Hands-on technical background in .NET (C#), React, REST APIs, and event/message-based systems.
- Experience with EDI/X12, including formats like 837i, 278, 270/271, and integration with clearinghouses or partners.
- Strong background in agile development environments and leading global engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare is a strong plus.
- Experience integrating with EHRs, EMRs, and payer systems is a plus.
- Prior experience with SaaS and product development lifecycle.
- Detailed oriented person with excellent written and oral communication skills.
