
Vice President – Prospects Direct Mail, Sales and Capabilities Data Science
Job Description
The Prospect Direct Mail, Sales and Capabilities Data Science Team is part of the Analytics and Investments (AIM) team in the Global Commercial Services Marketing group within American Express.
The Prospect Direct Mail, Sales and Capabilities Data Science Team is currently hiring a Vice President who will lead the team responsible for driving prospect acquisitions across direct mail & Sales channels, and data science for commercial database matching. The incumbent will partner across teams to drive prospect acquisitions. This critical role represents a unique opportunity to make an incremental revenue impact of $100MM+.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and deployment of AI, Gen AI, and Agentic AI capabilities to drive commercial acquisition growth, improve sales productivity, and create scalable solutions across Distribution and Marketing journeys.
- Partner with business, technology, product, and governance stakeholders to identify and prioritize high-impact Gen AI opportunities, translating emerging AI capabilities into measurable business outcomes.
- Drive the creation of innovative commercial data products and solutions leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, Gen AI, and large language models.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership by synthesizing complex analytical findings into clear business narratives and actionable recommendations.
- Develop executive-level communications, presentations, and board-ready materials that effectively articulate strategy, business impact, investment opportunities, and performance outcomes.
- Influence enterprise decision-making through exceptional storytelling, simplifying complex analytical concepts and AI innovations for senior executive audiences.
- Represent the team in executive reviews, governance forums, and strategic planning discussions, communicating progress, risks, opportunities, and business value realization.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists and analytics professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation, and responsible AI adoption.
- Strong people leader who can lead, motivate, and coach the team and is able to foster a collaborative team environment. Prioritizing efforts to help the team focus on the most impactful opportunities.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in a quantitative field preferred or MBA.
Strong analytics, quantitative, thought leadership, and project management skills with a demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously, and ability to translate AI innovation into clear and tangible revenue growth outcomes.
Demonstrated experience developing and scaling AI, Machine Learning, Gen AI, or agentic AI solutions that deliver measurable business impact.
Strong understanding of modern AI techniques, including large language models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), model fine-tuning, AI agents, and applied machine learning.
Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills, with proven ability to distill complex analytical concepts into concise, compelling narratives for senior leadership.
Proven experience creating executive-level presentations and strategic materials for leadership, governance committees, and business reviews.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across business, technology, product, and risk organizations.
Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, and extensive experience engaging with and influencing partners across various functions.
Ability to travel on a limited basis.

- $176,750 - $282,000 per year
