Description
The Program in Latin American Studies (PLAS) is seeking top scholars in their fields who have teaching experience and will provide Princeton students with an opportunity to study topics that are not regularly offered at the University. Applications will be accepted from outstanding scholars in the humanities and social sciences, as well as from established writers, artists, filmmakers, or architects working on projects related to Latin America.
Visiting Research Scholars will be expected to teach one undergraduate course per semester, conditional upon sufficient enrollments and approval of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, and to participate regularly in PLAS-related events on campus.
Appointments are expected to be for one or two semesters during the 2027-2028 academic year (fall semester: September 1, 2027 - January 16, 2028; spring semester: January 16, 2028 - June 1, 2028).
The work location for these positions is in-person on-campus at Princeton University. These positions are not eligible for sponsorship of an H‑1B visa requiring consular processing.
Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred.

- Cover letter indicating the applicant’s proposed length of stay (1-2 semesters; if one semester, please indicate preference), title and short description of the proposed research project, and teaching interests;

- One undergraduate seminar proposal or syllabus for each proposed semester of the fellowship, including a statement of how the course(s) would enhance undergraduate education at Princeton;
- A statement describing the research project and its potential scholarly contributions (1,500 - 2,000 words);
- The names and contact information of two referees (the Program will contact them, if needed, later).
