The Volunteer Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in advancing RMHFH’s mission by creating meaningful, well-organized volunteer experiences. This position is responsible for coordinating volunteers across construction sites, ReStores, and community initiatives, ensuring they are effectively placed, supported, and engaged.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, managing logistics, and building connections that turn community support into tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Volunteer Coordination & Engagement
* Coordinate daily volunteer activities across construction sites and ReStore locations
* Schedule, assign, and communicate with individual and group volunteers
* Match volunteers to opportunities based on skills, interests, and availability
* Manage volunteer data and scheduling through Galaxy Digital
* Maintain ongoing communication to ensure a positive volunteer experience
Program Management
* Support and manage key volunteer programs, including Crew Leaders, community service participants, and weekday volunteer groups
* Coordinate volunteer participation in special programs and events
* Lead volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts
* Assist with home dedication preparations
Collaboration & Operations
* Partner with construction and ReStore teams to align volunteer support with operational needs
* Attend regular meetings to stay informed of project priorities
* Address scheduling changes and support communication across teams
Community Engagement & Outreach
* Assist with outreach efforts, tabling events, and public speaking opportunities
* Support recruitment efforts for volunteers and community programs
Qualifications
Required
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
* 2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit work, or event planning
* Experience working with databases or volunteer management systems
Other Requirements
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
Physical Requirements
* Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
* Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (with assistance)
* Comfortable working in environments that may include active construction sites
