Position Description
The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Water Treatment Utilities Supervisor. The Water Treatment Utilities Supervisors are responsible for overseeing and supervising the Water treatment facility operations assigned to the liquid and/or solids stream, or collection system. As a first line working supervisor, this position, provides guidance and direction to assigned operators in the daily operation of the treatment plant. Duties include, but not limited to: Participating in technical water/wastewater system work; Writing technical specifications and monitoring capital and non-capital requisitions; Monitoring contracts and reviewing engineering plans; Coordinating safety and other staff training; Ensuring the quality of water/flow meter readings, field instruments and performing field inspections; Ensuring the calibration and standards of the process laboratory instruments are maintained; Overseeing the operation of water/wastewater treatment plant process, equipment and facilities; Peer reviewing analytical data and permit reports, Preparing operating plans; Writing SOPs; Reviewing productivity of operators and initiating efficiencies; Coordinating large projects; Developing and administering training programs; and, Performing other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED by an accredited institution, supplemented by college and/or technical coursework and five (5) years of progressively responsible water/wastewater experience in the public or private sector; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Applicants must possess and maintain a Valid Grade 3 or 4 Arizona Water Treatment Operator, and/or Water Collections Operator Certification, as applicable. Valid Arizona Class D Driver License required.

Additional Information

Position requires: Working in mechanical, biological, chemicals, and respiratory hazards; Working in noise and vibration environments; Performing manual labor which includes seasonal extreme temperatures; Working weekends, evenings, nights, holidays, overtime and emergency call-outs as needed; Require staying past the end of a scheduled shift or coming in early to cover a shift and may require staying past scheduled shift as needed; May require working alone as a solo operator on a shift; May require working in confined spaces; Use of SCBA and other personal protective equipment; and, be available by phone and responsive to the staff, both on and off duty.

Physical Demands

Positions in this class typically require: sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouch-ing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, handling, bending, twisting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium: Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme temperatures.

Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $39.91 - $47.16 Hourly D.O.E.

Full salary range for position: $39.91 - $55.88 Hourly
