Facility Services, Inc. (FSI) is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the USAMRIID Wastewater Treatment Plant supporting one of the Department of Defense's premier biological research facilities.

What You'll Do
As the Water Treatment Plant Manager, you'll provide overall leadership for wastewater treatment operations while ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted plant performance. You'll work closely with the Contract Maintenance Manager, Government representatives, Quality Control personnel, and Facility Management to maintain operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater treatment plant.
- Supervise wastewater operators, maintenance personnel, and subcontractors.
- Ensure continuous compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and permit requirements.
- Monitor plant performance and implement operational improvements that increase efficiency and reliability.
- Develop and maintain operating procedures, performance standards, and best practices.
- Analyze operational data and troubleshoot complex wastewater treatment issues.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maximize system reliability.
- Maintain accurate operating records, regulatory documentation, and performance reports.
- Foster a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members while conducting performance evaluations.
- Coordinate emergency response activities and provide after-hours operational support as required.
- Support Government inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure contractor personnel follow all biosafety, security, and facility access requirements.
- Partner with Government representatives and facility leadership to support mission success.
- Maintain continuous operational readiness to ensure uninterrupted wastewater treatment services.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, proven supervisory experience, and a commitment to environmental compliance and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of experience treating oxidizer-rich wastewater effluent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting biological laboratory environments.
- Supervisory experience leading wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Experience operating industrial or municipal wastewater treatment systems.
- Experience managing preventive maintenance programs.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Water and wastewater treatment processes.
- EPA environmental regulations.
- OSHA safety standards.
- Environmental compliance requirements.
- Mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Pumps, valves, piping, and process equipment.
- Chemical treatment systems.
- Process control systems.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM).
- Quality Control processes.
- Emergency response procedures.
Experience supporting one or more of the following:
- High-containment laboratory facilities.
- Department of Defense or federal government facilities.
- Biological or biomedical research environments.
- Industrial wastewater treatment operations.
- SCADA or Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Hazardous waste operations.
- Laboratory utility and support systems.
