The Senior Accountant with strong insurance accounting knowledge will assess technical transactions, research and interpret accounting guidance and regulatory policy, and engage with leadership on accounting matters. This individual contributor role will work closely with other members of the Controller team and business units within the Company.<h4>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h4><ul><li>Research relevant accounting guidance (U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles) to evaluate complex and technical business transactions</li><li>Develop, maintain, and update the company’s accounting policy manual and technical memos</li><li>Draft clear, practical accounting policies based on U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles</li><li>Monitor changes in accounting guidance and regulatory developments (e.g. FASB and NAIC) and assess their impact</li><li>Communicate new and emerging technical accounting policy developments and related regulatory developments to key stakeholders</li><li>Ensure company-wide accounting policies are current and compliant with existing and recently issued accounting standards and regulations</li><li>Serve as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex technical accounting policy and compliance issues for assigned areas of responsibility</li><li>Provides technical accounting support on transactions and strategic initiatives by identifying any accounting issues during the process and developing/integrating technical accounting policies, as needed&nbsp;</li></ul><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance</li><li>5+ years of relevant experience in accounting policy, technical accounting, or audit in public accounting&nbsp;</li><li>CPA required</li><li>Previous public accounting experience strongly preferred</li><li>Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles, preferably in the life, health, or P&amp;C insurance sector</li><li>Familiarity with NAIC guidance and statutory reporting requirements</li><li>Experience with insurance products, reinsurance arrangements, and investment accounting is a plus</li><li>Excellent research, analytical, and technical writing skills</li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with accounting research tools (e.g. PwC Checkpoint, DART, CCH) preferred</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to work flexible hours as required</li></ul><h4>Benefits</h4><ul><li>Your benefits start day one and are flexible and customizable to your and your family’s specific needs.
