Together, we create our culture by living our values in our day-to-day interactions with our patients and teammates.Job Summary<ul><li>The Pharmacy Director is responsible for leading the strategic, operational, and clinical functions of the pharmacy department, ensuring optimal medication management and regulatory compliance</li><li>This role oversees clinical pharmacy services, financial management, staff development, and quality assurance initiatives, aligning departmental goals with the hospital’s mission</li><li>The Pharmacy Director collaborates with senior leadership, medical staff, and other departments to enhance patient care, implement evidence-based practices, and ensure the safe and effective use of medications across the healthcare system</li></ul>Essential Functions<ul><li>Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective medication management</li><li>Provide strategic leadership in planning, organizing, and directing pharmacy services to align with the hospital’s mission and goals</li><li>Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including TJC, CMS, DEA, and FDA guidelines</li><li>Oversee clinical pharmacy programs, including antimicrobial stewardship, medication reconciliation, and clinical consults</li><li>Develop and manage the pharmacy budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-saving initiatives</li><li>Manage pharmacy staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions</li><li>Lead quality improvement initiatives related to medication safety, formulary management, and clinical outcomes</li><li>Collaborate with medical staff to implement clinical protocols and evidence-based practices</li><li>Ensure accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, including compounding and sterile preparations</li><li>Represent the pharmacy department in executive meetings and interdisciplinary committees</li><li>Coordinate the implementation of pharmacy information systems and automation to enhance workflow efficiency</li></ul>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations<ul><li>Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and regulatory standards</li><li>Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and analyze financial data</li><li>Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills</li><li>Ability to effectively manage and resolve complex clinical, operational, and personnel issues</li><li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and pharmacy information systems</li><li>Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and professional development</li></ul> QualificationsEducation<ul><li>Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited School of Pharmacy required</li><li>Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related field preferred</li></ul>Licenses/Certifications<ul><li>Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice required</li><li>Certification as a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) as required by state regulations required</li><li>Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) or Pharmacy Administration preferred</li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical pharmacy experience, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role required</li><li>Experience in financial management, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives preferred</li></ul>
