Title: Part-time ESL Teacher - Adult Education

Job Summary
Reporting to the Adult Education Program Director, the ESL Teacher is responsible for teaching English language and literacy to adult learners with limited English proficiency according to Tennessee Adult Education ESL content standards and assessment competencies while accommodating individual learner’s needs and goals.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Follow the TN Division of Adult Education Assessment Policy for pre- and post-testing to assess and evaluate students to determine their progress and potential for advancement to the next National Reporting System (NRS) level utilizing the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS).</li>
<li>Provide orientation for new ESL students including CASAS proctoring.</li>
<li>Administer assessment, interpret scores, and advise students on their performance on the test.</li>
<li>Provide instruction to a multi-level class in reading, writing, speaking, and listening for every lesson.</li>
<li>Maintain student attendance and records of progress in accordance with the Division of Adult Education requirements.</li>
<li>Participate in the retention and follow-up of students.</li>
<li>Participate in local and state activities/staff development</li>
<li>Use a variety of instructional approaches, including integrating technology in the classroom to accommodate different learning styles and levels of functioning.</li>
<li>Adhere to AE teaching standards/classroom requirements.</li>
<li>Assist with recruitment, registration, orientation, and assessment as needed.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
• Active Teacher’s License or Waiver • ESL Certification • One year of teaching experience in secondary, post-secondary, or adult education programs • Proficiency in language other than English 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Outlook; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating an ability to establish a positive relationship with staff and students. • Knowledge of and ability to consistently apply TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) best practices • Ability to travel to satellite class locations when necessary • Able to work a split schedule, including up to two evenings per week

Job Summary
Reporting to the Coordinator of The Learning Center, the Tutor/Lab Assistant is responsible for providing tutoring services to Northeast State students.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Successfully complete all required tutor training and/or professional development.</li>
<li>Provide tutoring in content areas to students one-on-one or in small groups.</li>
<li>Help students implement successful learning strategies and study habits.</li>
<li>Assist in scheduling students for tutoring/other services.</li>
<li>Compile, maintain, and submit documentation of services provided.</li>
<li>Create/compile study and/or workshop materials.</li>
<li>Present workshops, as requested, online and/or on campus.</li>
<li>Promote and/or participate in collaborative efforts with other tutors and students.</li>
<li>Display responsible, courteous, and professional behavior in all duties and in all interactions with students and staff.</li>
<li>Support academic success and retention efforts and programs</li>
<li>Provide TLC information and general assistance to students, especially with technology issues, directing them to other appropriate offices on campus, if needed.</li>
<li>Communicate any issues, needs, or concerns to center coordinator.</li>
<li>Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.</li>

Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>College coursework in specific content areas to tutor – grade of “B” or higher in specific courses</li>
<li>Strong overall academic record – at least a 3.0 GPA 
</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>College coursework in content areas to tutor with an “A” grade</li>
<li>Previous tutoring or customer service experience</li>
<li>Experience leading workshops or study groups</li>
<li>Experience creating and hosting Zoom meetings</li>
<li>Willingness to work at multiple campus locations and/or online 
</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Technology Skills: MS Office suite</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to work with diverse student population in courteous, professional manner</li>
<li>Ability to perform tasks and adjust to fluctuating demands in a fast-paced environment
