HVAC/R PROGRAM SUMMARY: The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program is an individual program that prepares students to work in various jobs in air conditioning and refrigeration. Students are prepared to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, humidifiers, and electrical and gas heating. Students also learn the fundamentals of electricity, electric motors, and controls. Graduates of the program will be able to install and braze refrigeration tubing, diagnose electrical problems, install duct systems, repair light commercial equipment, recover air conditioning and refrigeration refrigerants, and locate and repair leaks.

Position Summary: Do you have a passion for sharing your expertise, craft or hobby with others? Pellissippi State’s noncredit lifelong learning program offers personal enrichment classes for the community with a wide range of topics, including: fitness, languages, musical instruments, arts and crafts, wellness, history, and more. Class participants are community members ages 18+. Some of the many benefits of teaching a lifelong learning class include working with engaged and enthusiastic adult learners and flexible class scheduling.
 Our noncredit class schedule is released twice a year: spring/summer and fall. Classes can be as short as 90 minutes or up to 20 hours in length. Record Keeping, Reporting, and Graduate Tracking: Maintaining student records in the college’s Banner student records management software and submitting timely reports are essential duties. The instructor will assist in recruiting new students and supporting graduate placement, fostering strong public relations with local businesses and industries. Building and maintaining relationships with area employers is vital for facilitating referrals and employment opportunities for career and technical students. Additionally, the Associate Instructor will be responsible for maintaining and updating the program's graduate placement information. Effective communication in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, faculty, and the general public is essential. They will provide input on budgets, attend convocation and commencement exercises, and engage in mandatory college programs. Maintaining an active advisory committee and developing positive relationships with colleagues is essential, as is working to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement, as well as accreditation standards. Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent with a technical diploma in a related field • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a collision-related field • Master ASE-certified technician or eligible to sit and pass the examination within the first six months of hire • Strong hands-on technical background in the field of instruction • Demonstrated effective communication and organization skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Teaching and supervision in areas of Collision Repair • Earned an Associate's Degree from an accredited institution • Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and procedures 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must have a strong hands-on technical background in all aspects of collision repair • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher • Must commit to remaining current in the field of collision repair • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Must possess computer skills and the ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public, and other employees • Strong customer service skills • Computer skills, including general knowledge of Microsoft Office • The instructor will ensure that all activities comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) 
Physical Demands / Working Conditions 
The workday has the potential to be varied based on the needs of the students and faculty. Lab and material prep will always be necessary daily, and the requirement to move between classrooms and work areas, often with materials and supplies. Overseeing a lab also involves standing and walking. Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, and reach overhead, and lift a minimum of 20+ pounds. Must be able to use tools or special devices to work.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines within the range of $50,142 - $60,171.

Location: The location will depend on which campus the SI/Peer Tutoring supported class is taught. Hardin Valley campus will use the SI Room, Peer Tutoring Math Lab, and/or Study Rooms in the ERC. Other locations vary.
Pay Rate: Amount of pay per hour according to academic level. • Peer Tutor (Student Employment Program) $14.00 – no experience; $15.00- 6 months experience; $16.00- 9 months experience • Tutor I (Less than 1 year experience) $16.00 • Tutor II (1-3 years of experience) $17.00 • Tutor II (3+ year &amp; experience) $19.00
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. 80% Tutor students individually and in groups.
2. 5% Complete tutor training activities.
