Summary:<ul><li>Reporting directly to, and working closely with the Program Director, PA is responsible for maintaining clinical sites, student placements and contractual agreements and assisting the Manager, Clinical Relations with securing new clinical affiliations for the Physician Assistant program.</li><li>Provides support for clinical teaching faculty; serves as a facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.</li><li>Supports faculty and students assigned to clinical sites, makes phone or on site visits, mediates conflicts, records attendance, and supports clinical affiliations to ensure that the affiliations are sufficient in number to meet PA program requirements.</li><li>Remains current in applicable program field, participates in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions.</li><li>Participates in campus activities such as faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings.</li></ul>Essential Functions and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Is responsible for developing and maintaining student clinical placements with identified facilities. Requests clinical placements, online and manually, and confirms.</li><li>Advises the Program Director, PA of the status of recruitment efforts to obtain new clinical affiliations, efforts to maintain relationships with current affiliations.</li><li>Plans and coordinates clinical preceptors and students assigned to clinical facilities.</li><li>Collects evaluation feedbacks from students, staff and Clinical sites. Ensures preceptors provide periodic feedback of clinical performance immediately after observation event and/or of overall student performance at midterm and end of trimester.</li><li>Orients students to clinical packets, health and safety requirements.</li><li>Supports Program Director, PA with strategic planning for clinical relationships and placements.</li><li>Works with Registrar for student's clinical rotation course registration.</li><li>Confirms with clinical affiliate staff the expectations for the student placement and established PA Program objectives.</li><li>Provides preceptor feedback from clinical rotations to PA program faculty.</li><li>Coordinates and assists with orientation to new faculty regarding clinical facilities.</li><li>Strives to develop strategic, enduring relationships with facilities that lead to outstanding placement opportunities to West Coast University graduates.</li><li>Provides clinical preceptors with orientation related to the program.</li><li>Assists with the on-site evaluation of preceptors and submits completed evaluation to Program Director, PA on time and with required level of quality.</li><li>Coordinates a plan for PA Program Faculty best observe, instruct, and evaluate student's learning and clinical practical skills and faculty performance which includes a direct observation clinical assessment of skills in applicable setting for related area of instruction.</li><li>Ascertains projections placements for upcoming terms. Proactively leads development of sites to meet current and future placement needs.</li><li>Identifies cored and effective rotation specialties.</li><li>Identifies clinical sites and creates schedules which support the student clinical requirements.</li><li>Creates reports for facilities.</li><li>Strengthens relationships with facilities.</li><li>Changes clinical placements (i.e. failing classes, last minute decisions, etc.) during the term.</li><li>Establishes and maintains communication lines between the clinical facilities, and staff as well as ACC where both institutions utilize sites.</li><li>Supports students completing clinical rotations, including phone or onsite visits.</li><li>Resolves conflicts / problems in the clinical setting with preceptors.</li><li>Collects and maintains appropriate documentation related to clinical education, such as health forms, CPR certification, student evaluations and site evaluations.</li><li>Completes agency preapproval required forms regulatory needs.</li><li>Works toward a consistent approach towards the management and development of clinical relationship vis-�- vis other West Coast University campuses.</li><li>Maintains accurate clinical site information database, including contact information and specific contractual agreement termination and expiration dates, and initiates renewal process timely.</li><li>Works with clinical affiliate staff to clarify policies and procedures specific to facility. Apprises clinical affiliate staff of student objectives in each clinical area.</li><li>Attends Advisory meetings to network and derive solutions to mutual concerns.</li><li>Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.</li><li>Assists with Identifying and developing new professional and Physician Assistant relationships for additional/new clinical sites.</li><li>Develops and maintains professional working relationships with hospital, medical office, and clinical site directors under current contract to the schools.</li><li>Evaluates insurance and liability issues related to clinical sites, and provides appropriate documentation.</li><li>Participates in providing schedule for Sim/Skills Lab.</li><li>Finds back up coverage for preceptor absences/vacation.</li><li>Apprises clinical affiliate staff of student objectives in each clinical area.</li><li>General Scope of Responsibilities: Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.</li><li>Maintains professional appearance for position and serves as a role model, leader and mentor to the campus community.</li><li>Adheres to University policies.</li><li>Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time off is recorded properly.</li><li>Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the University's Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and states laws, and applicable professional standards.</li><li>Maintains established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings. Maintains confidentiality of all student, associate, and/or university information as required.</li><li>Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.</li><li>Maintains order, cleanliness and safety at work.</li><li>Performs other job duties as assigned.</li></ul>Required Education, Certifications &amp; Licensures:<ul><li>Master's or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in Physician Assistant, education or administration required.</li><li>Current CPR Card required.</li></ul>Required Experience &amp; Skills:<ul><li>Leadership knowledge in the program field to cultivate a learner-centered environment and to foster excellence.</li><li>Knowledge in technological support and delivery of program area and services.</li><li>Knowledge and evidence of strong management skills as applicable to specialized program area.</li><li>Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Physician Assistant accrediting agencies, WASC, and other accreditation standards is preferred.</li><li>Experience with MS Office.</li><li>Knowledge of applicable databases and computer application systems to supply the most accurate information, reports and projections.</li><li>Ability to demonstrate clear criminal background history.</li><li>Ability to maintain academic standards.</li><li>Ability to effectively operate related equipment and machines for instructional purposes.</li><li>Ability to operate various office equipment and machines such as computer terminals, calculators and copiers.</li><li>Ability to manage and work effectively in a highly ethnic and culturally diverse student and associate community.</li><li>Ability to use effective communication skills, both oral and written, including presentations and effective listening skills.</li><li>Ability to speak before public groups, committees and meetings.</li><li>Ability to effectively use interpersonal skills, follow through with duties, provide attention to detail, and demonstrate the ability to motivate others.</li><li>Ability to use creative facilitation and conflict resolution skills to resolve difficult and sensitive issues.</li><li>Ability to demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to self-direct, self-pace, multi-task and function well under pressure of deadlines and conflicting priorities.</li><li>Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.</li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment.</li><li>Ability to interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures and assure compliance.</li><li>Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.</li><li>Willingness to work a flexible schedule.</li><li>Ability to travel/drive locally on a weekly, daily and/or on an as-needed basis.</li></ul>Preferred Experience:<ul><li>Knowledgeable of the medical community and established relationships with its professional members preferred.</li><li>One to two years prior experience working with or in clinical sites, placing students, and coordinating related documents preferred.</li><li>The ability to demonstrate bilingual skills is a plus but not mandatory.</li></ul>#LI-CM1Do you want a career that allows you to make a difference in other people’s lives?
