Minimum Qualifications:&nbsp; 
J.D. plus 18 graduate semester hours in the qualifying field or Master's degree in the qualifying field or Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the qualifying field, including courses in Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Court Procedures/Law.
No more than 6 of the 18 graduate semester hours may be in Topics courses, independent study, or workshop courses. 
Preferred Qualifications:&nbsp; 
Doctoral degree in discipline or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited college or university or a Master’s degree in any field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in discipline or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited college or university by the application date. Three years of Community College teaching experience. Ability to teach in an additional MSCC teaching field.

SUMMARY
The evening Heating Ventilation Air-conditioning &amp; Refrigeration Instructor shall coordinate with the full-time program faculty and shall be directly responsible to the institution administration for effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. The instructor shall observe rules, policies, and regulations set forth by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the Council of Occupational Education (COE); and shall strive to promote and elevate the mission and philosophy of occupational education within the areas served. They shall keep abreast of industry standards and techniques, reviewing periodicals and industry magazines commensurate to the course being taught.&nbsp; The instructor shall follow and maintain a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides to meet educational requirements and industry standards. They shall also oversee student conduct, motivation, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

<li>High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)</li>
<li>EPA section 608 Universal Certification required.</li>
<li>3+ years of approved work experience in the occupation to be taught.</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license.</li>

<li>Associate degree or diploma from an accredited technical training program in the related field.</li>
<li>3+ years technical teaching experience.</li>

WANTED: SUBSTITUTE/PART-TIME TEMPORARY INSTRUCTORS
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
TCAT Shelbyville is working to build a pool of substitute/part-time temporary instructors to support our various programs. The communities that we serve are rich with skilled industry and workforce experience. We want to tap into that pool of talent! AVAILABILITY/CLOSING DATE: This pool application posting does not guarantee an open position. Applications for substitute/part-time temporary instructors are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department as needs arise and as openings become available. Teaching locations and work schedules vary. The length of a teaching assignment may range from one day to one year per assignment.
HOURLY PAY:&nbsp;$20 - $30 dollars per hour, based on experience, education, position assignment, and institutional guidelines.
TEACHING LOCATIONS: The Automotive Technology program is offered at the main campus in Shelbyville, Tennessee. &nbsp;Work hours will vary based on the coverage needed.
DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: VP of Academics and Compliance
SUMMARY
The instructor will be responsible for the effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. Lesson plans, assignments, and instructions will be provided and used as a guideline to lead student activities. The instructor will oversee student conduct, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise with the VP of Academics and Compliance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET).</li>
<li>3+ years approved work experience in the occupation to be taught.</li>
<li>Ability to effectively utilize email and basic computer software. (Microsoft Office)</li>
<li>Strong customer service skills, effective oral and written communication, and excellent organizational and planning skills.</li>
</ul>
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of the principles and practices of the occupation to be taught and the ability to use the tools and equipment used in the industry.</li>
<li>Physical ability to lift (up to) 30 lbs. and to move throughout the teaching area to demonstrate and perform all occupational duties, with or without accommodation.</li>
<li>Ability to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.</li>
<li>Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to plan and direct the work of others.</li>
<li>Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations, making decisions, and problem solving.</li>
<li>Knowledge of and ability to perform basic first aid.</li>
</ul>
RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.</li>
<li>Follow lesson plans, implement active learning activities, and teach occupational skills and competencies.</li>
<li>Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student progress.</li>
<li>Record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily, per provided instructions.</li>
<li>Demonstrate professional worker characteristics and interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with the VP of Academics and Compliance.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain inventory control of equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to the classroom and lab. Report loss or damage immediately.</li>
</ul>
SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul>
<li>Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails twice daily (minimum).</li>
<li>Other duties as defined by administration.</li>
</ul>
