Description Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Chemical Engineer to work on our Applied Uranium Team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.&nbsp; The Applied Uranium Technologies Department is in the Nuclear Science and Technology directorate and is part of the Integrated Fuel Cycle Solutions initiative at INL.&nbsp; We support the safe, secure, and economic management of nuclear materials from inception to final disposition by ensuring availability of special nuclear materials and strategic isotopes, reducing proliferation risks, managing radiological waste materials and used nuclear fuels and developing research, development, and deployment test beds.&nbsp; We perform research from bench-scale to applied engineering demonstrations.&nbsp; We have many areas of research interest including flowsheet development and testing for advanced fuel cycles and critical materials recovery/separation, Off-gas capture (I and Kr/ Xe), High-assay LEU recovery from zirconium and aluminum fuels, HEU/HALEU polishing/down-blending/conversion, National security mission, and Critical and Strategic Minerals and Materials Initiative research and collaborations. Responsibilities Include: <ul><li>Apply chemical engineering principles to design, test, start-up, operate, and maintain chemical processes.</li><li>Prepare process flow diagrams, heat and material balances, and determine chemical process equipment requirements.</li><li>Document design to ensure conformance with requirements and standards.</li><li>Establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements.</li><li>Ensure fabrication, construction, assembly, and procurement are done per design specifications.</li><li>Develop processes for separating components of liquids and gases or generating electrical currents using controlled chemical processes.</li><li>Develop and implement process controls and tracking mechanisms using programming.</li><li>Prepare process flow diagrams and heat/material balances.</li><li>Establish process design and operating parameters through simulations, hazards analysis, and testing.</li><li>Monitor and evaluate plant system conditions and operational performance, recommend maintenance standards, and identify vendor data and replacement parts.</li><li>Participate in system design, fabrication, and testing for research and development programs.</li><li>Perform laboratory research studies to prove new principles and concepts.</li><li>Maintain familiarity with applicable codes and standards.</li><li>Identify new research opportunities, contribute to technical teams, respond to research opportunities, and assist in securing funding for research activities.</li></ul>Qualifications Minimum Requirements:&nbsp; <ul><li>Level 1: Bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering or directly related engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution and 0 Years of experience.</li><li>Level 2: Bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering or directly related engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution and 2 years of experience. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off. You will report to a senior manager. The Reactor Project Engineering Department is looking for candidates for Reactor Project Engineer. &nbsp;Reactor Project Engineers perform the lead engineer role for NRIC reactor experiments. &nbsp;You will apply engineering principles for the assigned reactor experiment through analysis, design, fabrication, installation, configuration management, and operational performance support activities. &nbsp;Reactor Project Engineer will provide oversight, guidance, and stewardship of a reactor experiment being designed by one of INL’s reactor developer partners or by internal INL teams. Provide engineering guidance to support a reactor developer or internal INL project for a reactor experiment. &nbsp;This includes: design, installation, operations, removal, and disposal of the reactor experiment and associated systems. <ul><li>Evaluate the design of reactor experiments and process support systems.
