Process Engineer - Casting Process Owner

ResponsibilitiesOur state-of-the-art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Process Engineer- Casting Process Owner to join our team.&nbsp;Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.&nbsp;This position is responsible for process monitoring and improvement of the vacuum investment casting process. Requirements of the position also include support of manufacturing through process control and improvement initiatives, assumes responsibility for integrity of product, establishes and maintains external &amp; internal customer contacts. &nbsp;Job responsibilities and&nbsp;duties&nbsp;may include,&nbsp;but&nbsp;are not limited&nbsp;to,&nbsp;the&nbsp;following:<ul> <li>Support&nbsp;manufacturing&nbsp;in the processing&nbsp;of&nbsp;castings&nbsp;through all operations.</li> <li>Maintain customer&nbsp;relationships through&nbsp;joint&nbsp;resolution of&nbsp;issues.</li> <li>Specification /&nbsp;work&nbsp;instruction review&nbsp;for&nbsp;mold wrap, mold preheat, casting, and post cast cooling processes.</li> <li>Training and accreditation of&nbsp;departmental&nbsp;casting technicians.</li> <li>Provide&nbsp;direction&nbsp;to&nbsp;manufacturing&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;event&nbsp;of&nbsp;interrupted&nbsp;or&nbsp;incomplete&nbsp;processing&nbsp;of material.</li> <li>Provide direction to Maintenance and Instrumentation technicians on acceptable repair and calibration for process acceptance.</li> <li>Statistical&nbsp;analysis&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;control&nbsp;of&nbsp;currently&nbsp;identified&nbsp;key&nbsp;input&nbsp;variables&nbsp;along&nbsp;with determination of future variables.</li> <li>Maintain and improve process&nbsp;records.</li> <li>Ensure adherence&nbsp;to all process&nbsp;specifications.</li> <li>Performs&nbsp;other&nbsp;work-related duties as&nbsp;assigned.</li> <li>Serves as the quality designee for releasing equipment to production after prescribed testing. &nbsp;</li></ul>QualificationsBasic Qualifications:&nbsp;<ul> <li>A&nbsp;minimum&nbsp;of&nbsp;a Bachelor of Engineering degree&nbsp;is&nbsp;required.</li> <li>One-year&nbsp;experience&nbsp;in&nbsp;molten metal processing.</li> <li>​Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.</li> <li>This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul> <li>Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering degree.</li> <li>Experience with precision casting processes.</li> <li>Familiarity with third party quality system accreditation programs (e.g. ISO, Nadcap) is&nbsp;preferred,&nbsp;but&nbsp;not&nbsp;a&nbsp;prerequisite.</li> <li>Familiarity with nickel&nbsp;based super-alloy&nbsp;metallurgy is&nbsp;also preferred.</li> <li>Knowledge&nbsp;of&nbsp;MS&nbsp;Office,&nbsp;excellent&nbsp;written&nbsp;&amp;&nbsp;oral&nbsp;communications&nbsp;skills,&nbsp;able&nbsp;to&nbsp;work&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;self- directed or team&nbsp;environment&nbsp;&amp; have&nbsp;good organizational skills.</li> <li>Experience with statistical&nbsp;data analysis.</li> <li>Experience in synchronous&nbsp;manufacturing&nbsp;and Kaizens.</li></ul>About us Howmet Aerospace Inc.
