Development Tooling CNC Engineer

Howmet Aerospace, Engines currently seeks an experienced Process Modeling Engineer to join our team at our Howmet Research Center! &nbsp;The position is located in Whitehall, Michigan and involves working in a close team environment performing a combination of development and support for Howmet’s casting facilities. Primary Responsibilities: <ul><li>Constructing and solving large 3-D finite element models of supplied electronic data for prediction and reduction of as-cast defects in our single crystal, directionally solidified and equiaxed product lines.</li><li>Development and improvement of the procedures, boundary conditions, material databases and application of process modeling for investment casting foundry applications.</li><li>Expansion of application of general heat transfer and fluid dynamics modeling applications within Howmet Engines.</li><li>Advance technical capability of Howmet’s castings through simulated design</li></ul> Basic Qualifications: <ul><li>An MS or PhD Degree in an Engineering Discipline from an accredited institution.&nbsp;</li><li>The ability to set up and analyze fluid flow, heat transfer and stress/strain analyses of Howmet Engines’ manufacturing processes.</li><li>A minimum of 2 years of experience in finite element casting simulation, thermal analysis, stress/strain analysis or computational fluid dynamics analysis and advanced CAD experience required.</li><li>Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.&nbsp; Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.&nbsp; Visa sponsorship&nbsp;is not available for this position.</li><li>This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications:&nbsp; <ul><li>Three (3) or more years of metal casting industry experience.</li><li>Extensive working knowledge of ProCAST, finite element analysis, and/or computational fluid dynamics.</li><li>Computer programing skills: python and/or c/c++ or fortran programing experience, xml, experience with Access, MySQL relational databases and MS Office Tools.&nbsp; Linux user experience / system admin experience a plus.</li><li>Knowledge of investment casting manufacturing process and/or hot forming processes.&nbsp;</li><li>Experience with JMatPro (or other CALPHAD computer software).</li><li>Knowledge and training in physical metallurgy and mechanics of materials.</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.&nbsp;Excellent analytical skills.</li><li>Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment.</li><li>Strong organizational skills.</li></ul> Howmet Aerospace Inc.
