Job-Specific Responsibilities: As part of the Facilities Maintenance Operations (FMO) group in Energy and Facilities, Campus Services, this position is responsible for the daily supervision of custodial services operations in an assigned area(s), including all routine and specialty work.&nbsp; The FMO supervisor works closely with customer representatives as well as other members of Campus Services management to provide consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.<ol><li>Ensures all Custodial Services operations adheres to customer-determined standards.&nbsp; Develops cleaning schedules and routines to meet customer expectations for cleanliness and sanitary conditions in compliance with all applicable environmental health and safety requirements.&nbsp; Continually review and adjust schedules and routines as needed.</li><li>Provides hands-on training to custodians in effective cleaning procedures, proper use of equipment and cleaning solutions, building security, and&nbsp; environmental health and safety regulations.</li><li>Communicates effectively and consistently with custodial staff, community members, and customers electronically and face-to-face to ensure excellent customer service. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, and access non-handicap accessible workspaces/areas as well as confined spaces. Must be able to walk up and down stairs, climb ladders, etc. and routinely walk between campus buildings/areas. Must be able to enter various types of buildings, industrial plants, and/or construction sites. Required to wear personal protective equipment where necessary. Job-Specific Responsibilities: <ul><li>Partners with E&amp;F Leadership to develop, refine, and maintain the campus utility systems. Coordinate with the plans and needs of the University’s Schools and Units. Oversee the installation and relocation of underground utility infrastructure with minimum impact to the University’s community and its activities. Assume complete engineering responsibility for utility distribution systems to ensure system capability, flexibility, reliability, safety, economic operation, and consideration for expansion. Formulate and balance long and short-range plans and budgets with respect to utility distribution upgrades. Develop distribution system statistics, records, and drawings, and assist in the documentation of utility infrastructure for record purposes. 
&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain communications and relationships with governmental agencies/departments to ensure that the University’s interests are served in a safe, reliable, economical, and least disruptive manner. Stay current with pertinent government standards relative to employee environmental, health, and safety. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, municipal, industry, and University codes, regulations, practices, trends, and/or guidelines as well as stay current with the latest information on electrical design and equipment. 
&nbsp;</li><li>Engages and collaborates with E&amp;F staff and partner groups to understand systems, data, and reporting that can be leveraged for use in E&amp;F’s KPI monitoring and operational analysis/reporting. 
&nbsp;</li><li>As stewards of university energy and utility systems, provide technical assistance to Campus Services operating and maintenance personnel and technical support for the operation and maintenance of central energy/utility production/distribution systems and building systems as necessary. Evaluate and provide recommendations for preventive maintenance, inspection, and testing programs for the University’s electrical distribution systems, the central chilled water and steam plants, and other electrical systems and equipment. Identify and develop cost control opportunities and system cost planning. &nbsp; 
&nbsp;</li><li>Act as the University's central engineering representative by providing unbiased information to University Schools and Units based upon recognized engineering principles and sound professional judgment. &nbsp;Demonstrates, promotes, and is guided by the mission, vision, and values of the organization; advancing the University’s mission of teaching and research by partnering to provide stewardship, strategies, and services that create exceptional community experiences.</li></ul><ul><li>Interface with local utility suppliers. The&nbsp;Assistant Property Manager (APM) position reports directly to the Property Manager (PM) and Assistant Director of Operations (ADO).&nbsp; The APM works as part of a property management team within the HRE Operations Group. The HRE Operations Group is comprised of four property management teams responsible for a diverse portfolio of buildings consisting of 3.3 million square feet located in Allston and Cambridge, MA. As an HRE Property Manager, the primary responsibilities include the day-to-day operations, tenant services, project management and financial support within the assigned portfolio.Essential tasks of the APM include overseeing core aspects of property management. They will manage select vendor service providers throughout their assigned portfolio. As a Principal Engineer, you will:&nbsp;<ul><li>Develop, refine and evaluate methods for analyzing and augmenting corpora.&nbsp;</li><li>Research, train and evaluate machine learning models.&nbsp;</li><li>Research, adjust and evaluate natural language processing techniques.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Write and contribute to open-source software.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Conduct an ongoing technology and research watch in areas pertinent to IDI’s focus, including: generative AI, natural language processing, digital preservation and open knowledge.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers.&nbsp;</li><li>Help build and lead development of multiple discrete projects at once.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Draft technical and scientific communications outlining datasets and novel methodologies developed in the course of your work.&nbsp;</li><li>Be a technological ambassador for the research center. Help build and engage with the broader academic and AI communities including the Harvard student population.&nbsp;</li><li>Engage with partners to both share our work and explore new opportunities.&nbsp;</li></ul> Qualifications Basic Qualifications:<ul><li>Minimum of seven years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience</li></ul>Additional Qualifications and Skills:We are looking for people who have:&nbsp;<ul><li>A desire to create public-interest impact on AI.&nbsp;</li><li>Deep understanding and experience designing, implementing, testing, and documenting data workflows.&nbsp;</li><li>Advanced working knowledge of machine learning and “AI” systems including local and open toolchains in addition to commercial offerings.&nbsp;</li><li>OCR and/or computer vision experience.&nbsp;</li><li>Strong grasp of at least one general purpose development technology (Python, Javascript, Lisp, …) and of every day development tools (IDEs, Git, dependencies management, Linux &amp; SSH, CI/CD, …)&nbsp;</li><li>Experience drafting technical or scientific communications to document and disseminate their work.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>A track record of shipping complex projects, especially working independently or within early-stage companies and organizations.&nbsp;</li></ul>Candidates need not have all of these qualifications to be promising, but all promising candidates will have a strong track record of shipping.
