Minimum Qualifications

<li>Associates Degree in the subject matter area</li>
<li>Currently credentialed as a Tennessee Instructor Coordinator. EMT Instructor Coordinator level.</li>
<li>Currently licensed as a Tennessee EMT-Paramedic, without a history of revocation, denial or suspension of licensure.</li>
<li>Current BLS provider and instructor level certification in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers. (American Heart Preferred)</li>
<li>Minimum of two (2) years practicing as a paramedic in the pre-hospital environment;</li>
<li>Minimum of two (1) year EMS education experience or minimum of 200 hours of EMS related instruction.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications

<li>Bachelors or Masters degree in the areas of EMS, nursing, management, administration, and or education are preferred.</li>
<li>Current ACLS provider level certification for Advanced Cardiac Life Support</li>
<li>Current PALS provider level certification for Pediatric Advanced Life Support.</li>
<li>Prior teaching experience in EMS related subjects is preferred</li>
<li>Prior employment as adjunct faculty or lab/simulation technician is preferred</li>
<li>EMS administrative experience is preferred</li>
<li>Experience with high fidelity simulation equipment is preferred</li>

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Knowledgeable in all aspects of pre-hospital care and capable of applying techniques and modalities of adult education.</li>
<li>Maintains current unencumbered license/certification as required.</li>

This is a part-time, Adjunct Faculty position in the Medical Lab Technician program. THIS POSTING IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF AN OPEN POSITION. The Medical Lab Technician Adjunct Instructor will provide instruction for the Medical Lab Technician and Phlebotomy programs. The instructor will be responsible for providing students with a complete syllabus containing objectives, resenting enthusiastic, organized and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus as well as labs concurrent with the lectures. The lecture and labs will be designed to continually promote the development and effective use of the skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, computation, problem solving, and decision-making; providing the student with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework, and projects; maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student academic performance; and possessing a thorough knowledge and understanding of all college policies.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Prepares and delivers instruction on topics in Medical Lab Technology and Phlebotomy.</li>
<li>Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; and keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.</li>
<li>Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintains office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student recruitment and retention; and assists students with course-related problems outside of the classroom.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean or Department Chair.</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.</li>
<li>Participates in departmental and college committees; and provides outreach service to the community.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintain standards of teaching to the collegiate level and perform according to the NAACLS accreditation standards.&nbsp;</li>
<li>May perform other duties as assign by Department Head/Dean.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s in Science as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist credentialed by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) and holds a current TN state license as a Technologist.</li>
<li>Evidence of ongoing professional development.</li>
<li>Demonstration of adequate knowledge and proficiency in their content areas.</li>
<li>Demonstration of the ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level.</li>
<li>Effective oral and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, staff and faculty.</li>
<li>Display a student-centered approach.</li>
<li>Willingness to reinforce all lecture lessons with hands-on experiences when resources permit.</li>
<li>Consistently demonstrates the highest level of integrity and professionalism.</li>
<li>Able to stand for extended time; ability to lift 25 pounds.</li>
<li>Computer literate.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Work constantly to instill in students the technical and academic competencies and employment behavior expected within the specific area.</li>
<li>Prepare for class and lab instruction and show written evidence of preparation.</li>

<li>Develop and maintain a classroom and lab environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided.</li>

<li>Two (2) years as a professional in Funeral Service, and two (2) years related experience.</li>
<li>Two (2) years of teaching experience.</li>
<li>Use observational, oral, and /or written assessment to direct and enhance learning in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new content.</li>
<li>Use current and emerging technologies and alternative delivery methods to enhance student learning.</li>

<li>Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree in another discipline with 18 hours of graduate work in the teaching discipline.</li>
<li>Minimum two (2) years teaching experience in higher education or one (1) year teaching experience and three (3) years employment in the field.</li>

<ul>
<li>Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning; experience interacting successfully with an ever-growing student population.</li>
<li>Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.</li>
<li>Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.</li>
<li>Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at any of the six locations.</li>

Job Summary
This is a part-time, Adjunct Faculty position in the Spanish Department. THIS POSTING IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF AN OPEN POSITION. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring and summer. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities.
