Job Summary
This is a full-time, tenure track, Faculty position in the Technologies Department. The faculty member is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The faculty member must be knowledgeable and able to instruct in the following technical subject areas: aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft systems, safety management systems, airline industry, flight operations management, human factors, and aircraft structures. The individual must be able to conduct flight training on the simulators. The faculty member must be knowledgeable and able to instruct in the following technical subject areas: aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft systems, safety management systems, airline industry, flight operations management, human factors, and aircraft structures. The individual must be able to conduct flight training on the simulators. The faculty member must be familiar with using a Learning Management System for conducting face-to-face and online classes. The faculty member will be responsible for the coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities, including overseeing all compliance requirements of the FAR Part 141 standards. Also, managing agreements with flight training providers with the goal of increasing student completions in the pilot program. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned teaching duties during the day, evening, and occasionally weekends of any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus as assigned. 
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Prepares and delivers lectures on topics of the Aviation Operations Technology program.</li>
<li>Maintains office hours for students seeking advice on class work, assignments, papers, etc.</li>
<li>Compiles, administers, evaluates, and grades students' class work, assignments, tests, and papers; and keeps students informed about their progress by observation and informs them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement.</li>
<li>Participates in student advising on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues while utilizing all resources within the college for guidance of students.</li>
<li>Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities and other meetings as called by the President, Dean or Department Chair.</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of developments in the field, providing recommendations to the department chair on program improvement and development.</li>
<li>Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations.</li>
<li>Provides service/outreach in the college and community by serving on college, division, and departmental committees, and by participating in scholarly activities in the community.</li>
<li>Participates in recruiting/retention efforts of the college and department and in community activities.</li>
<li>May perform other duties as assigned by Department Head/Dean.</li>

Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college/university 
</li>
<li>Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot's certifications and endorsements to meet departmental requirements under Part 141 to include:

</li>
<li>Three years documented experience in the aviation industry

Job Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Technologies, the Culinary Arts Faculty is responsible for teaching an average of 15 credit hours each semester, including teaching at off-campus sites, high schools (dual enrollment/Middle College), or online as assigned. Job Summary
Reporting to the Aviation Program Director and the Dean of Technologies, the Aviation Faculty member is responsible for teaching a full range of college-level Aviation classes, including teaching at off-campus sites, high schools (dual enrollment/Middle College), or online as assigned. The primary responsibility will be teaching General Fundamentals Aviation courses to include dual enrollment. The faculty member will develop and teach traditional, online, and hybrid courses, as needed; be responsible for ordering equipment; help recruit and advise for the department; and perform all duties associated with community college faculty.
Job Duties
• Complete all required reports such as attendance and grade submissions.
• Complete annual performance review and maintain related records.
• Teach assigned courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities.
• Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses as required.
• Develop curriculum, evaluate, and review departmental courses.
• Promote communication with transfer institutions, professional associations, and other external constituents to support student success.
• Evaluate and monitor progress to achieve individual and unit goals and objectives.
• Effective interaction with stakeholders. Routine Instructional Objectives
• Teach an average of 15 equated hours per semester during day or evening; on/off campus.
• Devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours as determined by the college officials, and bring the attention of the appropriate dean any commitments which might affect effectiveness.
• Generate a minimum of 300 student credit hours per semester.
• Assist the dean in the development of departmental schedule of classes.
• Recommend adoption of course textbooks in collaboration with other professional staff members in the department.
• Assist with the implementation of departmental exams and standardized tests when such use is deemed feasible and beneficial.
• Participate in faculty development activities to improve professional effectiveness.
• Participate in evaluation of instruction via peer, student, and self-evaluations.
• Provide copies to dean of syllabi and final examinations of courses taught.
• Supervise laboratory and other instructional activities in a conscientious and professional manner.
• Meet all classes promptly as scheduled with any deviation being filled promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.
• Assume responsibility for giving examinations and all other types of evaluations necessary to determine student level of performance and understanding.
• Collaborate with Library personnel in the selection development, and distribution of resource materials used by the faculty member’s department.
• Respond in a timely fashion to deadlines.
• Cooperate with other areas of the college in order to provide an effective educational program. Routine Curriculum Objectives • Develop and recommend to the dean new courses and programs of study when the need arises.
• Recommend modification or discontinuance of courses or programs of study, if appropriate.
• Assist the Advising Resource Center by advising students regarding issues related to the department/division. Routine Administrative Support
• Assist in the preparation of budget request each fiscal year.
• Originate and recommend requisitions for purchase of supplies and equipment and other uses of appropriate budgetary funds for the instructional program.
• Originate requests for professional travel in support of personal faculty development.
• Assume responsibility for all equipment assigned to the faculty member or others under his/her supervision.
• Recommend to the dean needs for custodial care and maintenance of physical facilities in support of instructional work or study.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals for special, federal, state, and private projects and grants.
• Attend all divisional faculty meetings and participate in the discussion of academic issues during these meetings.
• Complete requested assignments.
• Attend all officially called assemblies or faculty meetings.
• Provide academic advisement for students.
• Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and student population.
• Assist in marketing/recruiting activities.
• Participate and expedite the process of faculty evaluation following established procedures.
• Serve on committees as appointed.
• Perform all other duties as may be assigned.
• Other objectives of a problem-solving, innovative, professional growth, or community service nature are generally identified and agreed upon by a faculty member and appropriate dean in support of institution or divisional goals.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate degree or higher in Aviation or related field from an accredited institution. • Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. • At least two (2) years of experience in the field of Aviation maintenance. • At least one (1) year of experience in classroom or practical instruction. • Experience with curriculum and/or course development
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration for CFR 14 Part 147. • Three (3) or more years of experience in the field of Aviation maintenance. • Two (2) or more years of experience in classroom or practical instruction. • Teaching experience with technology, including online instructional tools and mobile devices. • Conversational ability or fluency in English and an additional language.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of FAA regulations related to general aviation aircraft. • Knowledge of FAA-recognized procedures for instruction development. • Technology Skills: MS Office Suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems. • Ability to work with student populations who represent a wide range of academic ability.
Additional Notes • Local travel may be required between multiple college campuses as well as to high schools in the Northeast State service area.
