Reporting to the Dean of Technologies, the Aviation Department Program Director is responsible for managing the FAA Airframe and Power Plant program, and coordinating with the FAA to meet Federal Aviation Regulations. <li>Provide copies to dean of syllabi and final examinations of courses taught.</li>
<li>Supervise laboratory and other instructional activities in a conscientious and professional manner.</li>
<li>Meet all classes promptly as scheduled with any deviation being filled promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.</li>
<li>Assume responsibility for giving examinations and all other types of evaluations necessary to determine student level of performance and understanding.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Library personnel in the selection development, and distribution of resource materials used by the faculty member’s department.</li>
<li>Respond in a timely fashion to deadlines.</li>
<li>Cooperate with other areas of the college in order to provide an effective educational program.</li>
</ul>
Routine Curriculum Objectives
<ul>
<li>Develop and recommend to the dean new courses and programs of study when the need arises.</li>
<li>Recommend modification or discontinuance of courses or programs of study, if appropriate.</li>
<li>Assist the Advising Resource Center by advising students regarding issues related to the department/division.</li>
</ul>
Routine Administrative Support
<ul>
<li>Assist in the preparation of budget request each fiscal year.</li>
<li>Originate and recommend requisitions for purchase of supplies and equipment and other uses of appropriate budgetary funds for the instructional program.</li>
<li>Originate requests for professional travel in support of personal faculty development.</li>
<li>Assume responsibility for all equipment assigned to the faculty member or others under his/her supervision.</li>
<li>Recommend to the dean needs for custodial care and maintenance of physical facilities in support of instructional work or study.</li>
<li>Assist in the preparation of proposals for special, federal, state, and private projects and grants.</li>
<li>Attend all divisional faculty meetings and participate in the discussion of academic issues during these meetings.</li>
<li>Complete requested assignments.</li>
<li>Attend all officially called assemblies or faculty meetings.</li>
<li>Provide academic advisement for students.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and student population.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assist in marketing/recruiting activities.</li>
<li>Participate and expedite the process of faculty evaluation following established procedures.</li>
<li>Serve on committees as appointed.</li>
<li>Perform all other duties as may be assigned.</li>
<li>Other objectives of a problem solving, innovative, professional growth, or community service nature are generally identified and agreed upon by a faculty member and appropriate dean in support of institution or divisional goals.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Two (2) years of community college teaching experience OR a High School Diploma with 10 years Industry Experience
<ul>
<li>Applicants without the preferred AAS degree must complete a degree within 3 years</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Documented proficiency in the following: FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, AND SMAW processes, metallurgy, welding blueprints, and pattern development</li>
<li>Recent history of safely operating welding equipment</li>
<li>Experience supervising or inspecting other welders/students</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>A.A.S. degree in Welding Technology from an accredited institution</li>
<li>Five (5) years of related industry experience</li>
<li>Experience with curriculum and/or course development</li>
<li>Teaching experience with technology including online instructional tools and mobile devices</li>
<li>Conversational ability or fluency in a second language</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Manual dexterity to safely operate welding equipment</li>
<li>Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance</li>
<li>Able to travel multiple college campuses as well as to high schools in the Northeast State service area</li>
<li>Ability to work with a student population who represent a wide range of academic abilities</li>
<li>Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems</li>
